These days technology are so efficient that people uses facebook, email, twitter, text message more than ever. owever, I have found myself talking on the phone less and less. I rather text than speak. Is that the same with everyone or is it just me? it seems time is going backward....back to the time when people dont have phones and just write notes and letters? Is this making people less social?

I am probably one of the few people who does not have a text plan on my phone. I rarely text people and when they text me I will almost always just call them back.

Texting! :D It's great, but I get what you mean by time going backward. Sometimes, it's awkward to call someone, but the fact they can't hear your voice, and you can change what you plan to say before the person hears, really helps.

In a way I think it is making people less proficient in face to face conversation. So many people would rather text then call their friends. I'm the same way. If I can do anything on the internet or by text I will instead of using the phone. But that is partially because I've never been good at face to face stuff. I get to flustered. With texting you can sort of hide behind your phone to say what you need to say to people.

hie, i prefer to text messages than to speak. i ask around and most of my friends and colleagues are into text messaging. sometimes in crowded and noisy places, text messaging is more convenient and flexible. looks like text messaging is becoming an in thing nowadays. thanks so much for high tech.

i also prefer text but the negative thing i find in text is that u can not feel the other person's mood or in what sense he is talking.. like every word or sentence has two meanings but u cant guess it in text....

Hi GeminiBunniee I prefer texting. Its is much faster and it eliminates the hassle of trying to speak loudly and clearly when the surroundings are quite noisy. I think most people prefer texting but I am sure there are a few that prefers calling. It kinda reminds me of the days of telegraphs.. hmm.. I don't think it makes people less social. Text is a form of communication, and most forms of communication does enhance sociability. Have a nice day!

I have been on social networks a lot myself, posting pictures, emailing , using twitter. But for me using these sites is a step towards the future, where you chat with friends who are miles away from you, whom you cannot call on a daily basis because of the calling charges.I have met friends which i have not been touch for ages because of these social networks. The friends who are close by I call them up. I would have to say that I use the phone and internet equally.

Yes, texting is convenient...at the same time cheap. But it's much more easier to say what you really want to say through speaking, right? But texting is a way of socializing too, I don't think it makes people less social^^
