Hi friends,
Last week I told my doctor to check my Blood Pressure, which read 100/77, which to me sounded very strange as I know the normal should be 120/80. But the doctor said your blood pressure is EXCELLENT..........Do you think he is right.......has anybody else this kind of problem. Do share with me.......Thank you.

Hi Aps
120/80 is average blood pressure, and plus minus 10 is Ok
and 100/77 is good definetly , atleast u dont have to worry about hyper tension. how ever my blood pressure is most of time towards higher side that is 125/85-90.
So dont worry
u r perfectly fine, and hope and pray that u stay safe, stay healthy

Hi Aps ....My Bp when I checked on 12 th of this month was 119/78.....But since I checked it at home by myself I do not have any doctor's comment....
But dear ,if your doctor is happy with your Bp I cannot understand why you appear to be so sad about it???.....ppppsssstt...tell me....what is your doctor's age...I am reminded of the proverb.....
An apple a day keeps the doctor away...
But if the doctor is handsome keep the apple away....
Well Jokes aside.....since you are not having a high Bp it appears you are in good health. So stay happy ,but try to limit your intake of salt and sugar, and try to maintain your Bp at optimum level as much as you can...Good luck and good health to you.....

Hello apsara, how your doctor said that the BP value 100/77 is excellent, because I always heard that the normal value is or can say excellent value is 120/80 as you mentioned, I do a lot of work daily and my inconsistent daily routine gives me this kind of problem sometime but my BP goes up to 150/90 whenever I have problem otherwise normally my BP is 100-105/80-85, but I can suggest you to do some yoga for getting out of this BP inconsistency.

i keep forgetting the medical terms but I think it’s the lower one that matters the most. Ideally the lower mark should be 80 but as we all know, such things are accepted as normal within a short range and I think 77 falls within that short range…so your pressure would be considered as normal. At least you don’t have high BP and that’s a big relief. Low BP is always the less dangerous and can be taken care of good food and rest. In any case, you don’t have low BP so don’t worry over it.

Hi apsara!
Though I have limited knowledge about medicine and related fields. However, I feel that if upper side of your BP reads 100, it means you are suffering from 'low blood pressure' (though I am not sure about it). Alternatively, you can get your BP checked up from some other place/Doctor or after few days and can find out, what is the exact position.

Hello Deepak, how are you. I know I have low BP, but as long as it does not create any problem , I ignore it. I have checked my bp in past by various doctors and also at home, but always reading is some what same. My blood is not hasty like me, so it flows slowly.....aaraam se........

If the Doctor is not worried then why are you so worried dear? Or is it because you now have no reasons to go to the doctor . (You know what I mean???) My blood pressure too is around 100/70 quite often but my doctor too tells me that I have nothing to worry and I am happy that I do not have to visit him often to check my pressure !!!

I guess your doctor had assumed that your Blood pressure to be excellent because of his other considerations depending on your case and lifestyle as normal.
The blood pressure of 120/80 is the average normal range that is considered normal for all people but not specifically mean the measurement of the numbers in exact.
The blood pressure counts the sytolic and diastolic range. His diagnosis for you has been based on many contributory factors that under his basis is considered normal.
If a person blood pressure is constant to be that range plus his illnesses, then there is something really wrong about your condition.
But, if the person had a below or high blood pressure that time because of the activities he made before taking the blood pressure. It will be recorded abnormal in count but normal to be considered because of the predisposing factor. Then after a couple of hours when the person will be taken again for blood pressure test, it will fall to normal again.

Thank you Genericbe, your reply gives lot of information. Yes you are right , bp does depend on the activities that we are doing. Also you are right, it also depends on lifestyle of a person. As long as I am not sick, I don't think I should worry. Have a nice day.
