"The Great Raid" made in 2005 is a good war movie. It is set in the Philippines in 1945 and is the rescue of 500 POWs from the Japanese. No one has mentioned "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen. Clint Eastwood in Kelly's Heroes is a family favorite too. "Patton" with George C Scott and Karl Malden is another favorite of the family. "The Bridge over the River Kwai" filmed in 1957 is another one. As you can see we like war movies too. My son was in the army and has gotten us hooked on them .

Saving Private Ryan is always a good choice for me Also, I like Full Metal Jacket (it doesn't just show war, it gives you an insight into the harsh training and preparation before-hand too) and Black Hawk Down, because of the fact that it's full of action and explosions, which is what we all want from a war movie at the end of the day

I like the really old war movies..John wayne and Henry Fonda days..The Green Berets, Midway,From here to Eternity, The Dirty Dozen, Bridge over Toko Ri and all of the ones in between. Platoon was a good movie that doesn't go as far back as the other ones I listed do.

Did you already watch Deer Hunter by Robert de Niro? You should watch it. The first half of the story is boring but it is important because they have to build the characterization of the actors involve. Then the other half is really interesting because that's where they went to war in Vietnam. Watch for yourself what happens to them and tell me if it is do you think one of the greatest war movies...

Band of Brothers! I like the series and find it so interesting and exciting to be an airborne paratrooper in Normandy. These guys are the backbone of the operation D-Day. I always like the way WWII had their mass army attacks. I'm going to confess I'm a war freak. I like everything boom of it! I also like Pearl Harbor. I like how the Japanese plotting against the US in a secretly manner. And also the kamikazee planes I like them going down destroying everyone along with them. Boom! Yeah saving private Ryan is also good too.
