Eat something, maybe a sandwich or drink a glass of milk, or just a fruit? Do you wake up in the night, and go to kitchen to see what you can eat, or just drink a glass of water? Eating at night, however you will gain weight because all what you eat will accumulate, and can t sleep any more after you eat. If i wake up i drink a glass of water with honey, this help me a lot to sleep again. Specialists say that is very good to drink a glass of milk with honey, your sleep will be more relaxing.

No way!! That is one of the quickest and easiest ways to gain weight. The best plan, if you are a middle of the night snacker, is to have a snack of some type of protein before you go to bed...milk, string cheese, fruit with peanut butter, nuts, etc. It is easy to forget, but stop and think about how many hours TRULY lapse between bedtime and dinner...that is a long time!!! The more often you eat, the more efficient your metabolism.

going to the kitchen is something i don't do if i wake up in the middle of the night. we don't have a kitchen within the main house, we had it separated in another area along with the bar just across the garden. we were kinda avoiding having most of the bedrooms smelling like food cooking. hehe and besides, my bedroom on the second floor is the farthest from the kitchen area... i wouldn't want to wander around in the middle of the night and turning the lights on along the way. just outside the bedroom we have a coffee tray/cart with an assortment of teas, coffee and chocolate drink along with hot water available and some cups. if i need to take something, i'd make a hot choco. that would make me more relaxed and possibly go back to sleep after.

It is a true slalom to go in the kitchen, so it's better to drink, too much effort to get in the kitchen, this is a help to your stomach.

yeah, that's one of the advantages of having the kitchen so far from the bedroom. i mean i really need to literaly go out of the house, cross the garage, garden and kiddie pool to get to the kitchen. -lol- i'd rather wait for breakfast. hehe

It really depends on the reason I woke up. Usually a glass of milk will help me fall asleep or a cup of hot chocolate if I feel like boiling some water. It all depends on my mood.

Have you ever tried warm milk? That is very soothing and will usually put me back to sleep.

Hi, Ice! I usually read for a while and go back to sleep. I'm too diet-conscious to snack in the night.

May I read sometimes when i can not sleep, or come here in my lot, to see what happens, or just watch TV until I fall asleep, but never eat, maybe more than one fruit or, if it is summer, ice cream, but I drink a glass of water or milk. Our stomach need to rest too.

icesmile but I am a diabetic and if I do wake in the middle of the night and am feeling hungry and start to shake, yes I eat some hard candy as I have no fridge in my room here at Gold crest to keep Orange juice. then I will have half of the equivalent of a meat or cheese sandwich to keep my raised blood sugar from dropping again. we diabetics are a tad different as if when we had low blood sugar and did not raise it we could pass out and go into coma. so for us it is not wrong to eat a snack. for someone else probably it wou ld be wrong.

For diabetics is something special, they just can not stand them be hungry, for they cause blood sugar levels in the body. I know it is safe to eat if you are hungry , is easy to enter in coma is a very dangerous disease ..

Unfortunately, I grab a handful of cereal or just a drink of iced tea. I have trouble sleeping all the time so that is a BIG issue for me. I take melatonin every night before bed. It is something your body makes naturally. I know, the iced tea doesn't help with sleeping either!

Hi, icesmile. I hardly do so. If I do wake up in the middle of the night, I will want something cold to drink. Because my mouth feels very dry and thirsty. I may have a lemon that is sliced up with some lite salt on it. I can never seem to eat so heavy at night. I will crave something light and satisfying.

Normally i'll just get myself a glass of ice cold water from the fridge. Unless it's my hunger pangs that wakes me up from my sleep, then i'll get something light, e.g. some cookies. Cheers.

I rarely get out of bed when I wake up in the middle of the night. I only get up if I need to use the bathroom, sometimes I will also take a drink of water. But I'll never start eating something, because it will wake me up once and for all, I will have trouble with falling asleep again.

I rarely get up in the middle of the night and raid the fridge.I usually wake up just to drink a cold glass of water.I would rather not have anything interrupt my sleep.I do get up when I have to pee.other than that,I don't get up just to raid the fridge.

Recently, I dont actually wake up in the middle of the night anymore since I dont get to sleep at night at all...I am practically awake all night and I get to sleep when it's morning already..My work really sucks..lol..anyway, since I am working the whole night on my bed, lying and in front of my PC, I often find ways to get up and leave my work. The best excuse is really to head down to the kitchen and finc something to nibble. i know it's a bad practice since I dont get to burn what i consume anymore since all i do is face the laptop while lying on my bed. My defense though is that I feel like I need to really load up in the middle of the night so I have something to burn while working. I am working my brains out anyway so i guess I am still consuming a lot of energy and not just storing them.. :D

It's hard to get out of bed in the morning let alone in the middle of the night. I just lay in my bed and try to go back to sleep. I never get out, that's too much work for a tired body. Besides I have a long walk to the fridge so that would hinder my chances of going back to bed so I never snack at night.

I think we eat because we're anxious to go back to sleep. We feed that anxiety with food, the all-cure solution. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I like to drink a cup of lavender-chamomile tea. Both of the flowers are suppose to relax you enough to drift off to sleep. I've tried drinking milk, but I've lost my tolerance to lactose and my stomach acts up.

Well it is really not good to eat in the middle of the night considering that the food is not properly digested as you go back to sleep. In fact, it is even advisable to eat lightly during dinner. In my case, I rarely eat in the middle of the night. I usually sleep at around 11 pm or 12 midnight so I rarely wake up in between. I usually wake up at 6 am in the morning just in time for my morning coffee.

No, i dont go to fridge when i wake up at night. I just go to badroom and then back to sleep since it is to easy for me to sleep back at the middle of the night. Also if i go drink something i would make too much noice and maybe wake up my familly.

Even if we try to deny it, we all know it's true. If we wake in the middle of the night, we always seem to find our way to the kitchen and on to the fridge. We aren't necessarily starving, it's just habit for us.

I hardly ever wake up during the middle of the night, but if I do, I will grab a snack or a small drink from the fridge Usually, I take a swig of milk and grab a cookie from the cookie barrel before returning back to bed, but I have known some people (who yes, are quite large in size) who have made themselves entire meals in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning before!

Yes I do, most of the times... I eat when we have food in the fridge. That's a good tip, I just drink milk if I want to. Good night!

ya definitely when i wake up in the night i will go straight to the fridge to see that whether i find anything to eat . the pleasure of eating something when you feel to eat something in the night is absolutely super . i will mostly eat some biscuits or some other things like a bread or a bun in the night times . i may drink some thing like a cool drink if i have it in the fridge. or else i will finally drink some water i will go to sleep again
