The writing on the cake.

Happy 92nd birthday. That is what I told my mom to write on my birthday cake. No, my birthday is not today, it is in March, but my mom told me she was going to get a cake, and she asked what I would like written on it. I told her I would like for them to write Happy 92nd birthday. Have you ever made, heard, or seen weird requests for birthday or anniversary cakes? If you were getting a birthday cake, would you rather it have no writing? I understand homemade cakes are bit harder to decorate... So why happy 92nd? Because I will be 29 years old, and those numbers turned around are 92. I've been told (although not by my immediate family), that I should be married by now, have kids by now, and so on. This is kind of my way of thumbing my nose at all that. And if English isn't your first language, you probably don't know what I meant by that. Anyway, it's my small way of rebelling against expectations. So, cake anyone?

People can just take their expectations and put them somewhere else, not on you.You can do just fine without them. I am not really wild about cake, I would rather have a birthday pie. You can work on having a healthy life and do not feel rushed by anyone else. Did your mom understand the 92? I kind of guessed it immediately. As my younger brother reminded me a number of times "Don't should on yourself." or in this case, don' let others "should" on you.

I didn't actually celebrate my birthday this year, so I didn't have a cake. I've always been all for non-traditional cakes, though, so your idea of having "92nd" instead of "29th" sounds good to me. And good for you for thumbing your nose at people's expectations for your life- age has nothing to do with whether you should be married or have kids. Everyone has their own pace and their own path in life. So if you want to be 92 for your birthday, go for it! As a side note, you might enjoy the website http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/. It's a website with pictures of badly or hilariously decorated cakes. I always get a kick out of it.

only strange request I ever made was during this years Superbowl I requested that they bakery at the store make me a black and gold cake, or one iced in those colors. I was told they can make the icing black, but you can not eat it because it is so bitter. I wonder why this is. I mean is it because of the way they have to make the black color? She said even if they made it gold and trimmed it in black we still could not eat it. I thought that was weird.

Unfortunately, I ate black icing once from a cake. Maybe it is the food coloring, but yuck, it was bitter.

Oh wow! What a great idea! I think that is great that you are thumbing your nose at the expectations of others! You should live your life the way you want, and if other people don't like it well that's just to f@&!*n bad for them! I have never done anything like that before, but I really commend you for it! Way to go! Happy early birthday! Hope it's a good one!

Hey Amber! As your Sis I should already know when your birthday is, but since I just adopted you I haven't had time to find out those minute details! So would you please tell me what the exact date in March your 92nd birthday is?lol I think that I wish that I could turn 29 again for sure! Damn! I don't even remember my 29th birthday it was so damn long ago! You are so lucky! I'd give anything to turn back the clock to that one! But, since I can't I guess I will just help you celebrate yours! So when exactly would that be? Love, your favorite Sis, Leslie

Hey AmbiePam... you and I share a birthday month, and we are both going to be 29 this year. I think that means you astrologically you must be an awesome person. Anyhow, as for writing on the cake... I do have one story that this topic brings to mind. My neighbor had the store write "Happy Birthday You Old Fart" on a cake for his wife. The store didn't want to be known for this sort of thing so they gave him the cake for free and took off all store labels that would indicate where he bought the cake... or so that is the story he told.

Happy birthday for March - it isn't 19th is it? That is our 50th wedding anniversary. The only birthday cakes I've had have been from the young people in my youth groups. They've always given me a cake, but it has never had an age on it. I wouldn't like the age on mine reversed. I would not want to be 37 again! I enjoy the age I am now. Don't take any notice of what "others" say. 29 is NOT old, but it is certainly old enough to make your own decisions.

I think that the pressure that people put on others to do things a certain way is crap. Alot of people dont get married or have kids...some people have kids and dont get married...some people get married and dont have kids! Its what they want to do, not what others want them to do. As your friend, I'd love to see you married w/kids if thats what YOU want,BUT first and foremost, I want you to be HAPPY and however YOU choose to be happy is fine by me!! And, just because you are turning 29, doesnt mean you are too old to have kids! Alot of people are waiting well into their 30s and even 40s to have kids! Its all your choice!! Happy 92nd! hehehe

If I will have a cake I will right down the greetings and my real age. I am 29 too, going 30. I never had relationship. Just what you said I must have boyfriend now and plan to get married but unfortunately I don't have. Maybe it is my destiny to be single forever. . And also I want to include the most responsible daughter word on my cake. I will truly appreciate if there is one written there. Promise I will take a photo of that before slicing.

That is a great idea for a birthday cake. I love it and I am sure many people will get a kick out of it. Finding a good partner for life now a days is not so easy. I say it is better to be single then to be with someone who doesn't deserve you. Just be happy.

hi ambie pam congrats on your upcoming March birthday.do not fret Idid not get married until I was almost thirty one and had one child a year later and the other 11 months later. I was very picky as I did not want to marry some creep just so I would be married. I fell in love and he was all I wanted in a husband so was very lucky. I didnt get a cake for my birthday this year as I am in this tired retirement center. sob sob. but its okay. Hey if its chocolate send us mylotters some through the monitor, slobber slobber. love t he stuff.

My son just had his birthday last February 23. I requested to write just an ordinary happy birthday phrase. Anyway when he will be older enough to speak what he wants, I would love to hear it.

WOW if you they think you should be married by now then they would think I was just awful lol lol I am 33 and never have been married. Although I do have 2 kids I am scared to the big M word myself. I have been with the same man now for almost 5 years and we are perfectly happy not being legaly married. I do the hole pretend being married thing lol I wear a wedding band so does he. But, we are happy with our domestic relatonship. As far as the cake goes I think it is funny! When my family used to say something about me getting married I would ask them if they were going to pay for the wedding and the divorce also!

That is a fun way of getting the message across! I guess I will be 94 next birthday! (LOL) We always have birthday cakes for our birthdays and we don’t bother with the writing, no need to be reminded of our real age! My daughter always ends up with a lovely birthday message and candles etc on hers.

I don't care much, as long as the cake is chocolate. When I turned the big 5-0, the family got some of those number candles. Since then I've told them just to re-use the same candles until they are too small to relight. I guess I'll just stay 50 until the candles tell me that it's time to move on...
