I think that internet has revolutionized to point where you can watch your favorite shows and movies on the internet. I mean honestly i dont watch tv anymore. All i need is internet. you can just google your favorite shows and Wallaa theres hundreds of sites you can watch it from. Internet is a great invention is it not??

Absolutely. I would be completely lost without the Internet, sad as that is. I use it to talk to old friends, study, watch TV, listen to music, learn useless trivia. If I have a computer and an internet connection, I think I could postpone boredom for years. I can't wait for the teens and twenty-somethings of today to grow up a bit and not get cable or satellite as adults. I think that by eradicating scheduled programming, we could see a market driven by quality rather than by popularity. An unusual or niche show that a network didn't believe in wouldn't fail due to being placed in an unwanted slot. It could get the viewers it deserves. The MST3Ks and Futuramas of the world would have much better chances of getting larger viewership. And that idea is very exciting to a dork like me.

Because of the internet I'm no longer kept up until 3 a.m. wondering what actor played Uncle Billy in It's A Wonderful Life. I can find out right away. (It was Thomas Mitchell, by the way. Haha. See?)

I have completely lost all interest in television now (save a small handful of shows)
The internet offers so much to see, do and experience, whereas with the television, you are just sitting and watching a screen. Plus, the television is filled with 90% adverts, which really annoys the hell out of me

There is far much more entertainment to be gathered on the Internet than there is for the television. Sure, many people watch the news on television. However, there are countless websites where I can read the news and get constant updates as I want to. If I want to check the stock market for some insane reason, then I can do that online quickly. Same with the weather. And that just scratches the surface. Many shows can be found on the Internet. Both legally and...otherwise shall we say. They can be watched at any time. Granted, some people might not want to watch programs on their computer screen but quite frankly, I do not really mind at all that much. The Internet has changed the world, making television almost obsolete. I still do watch television at times but the time that I spend watching television has been greatly reduced in recent years.

Same here hanxyoung....eversince I bought my very first laptop, I totally got hooked in the internet and I hardly watch TV anymore. I also watch my favorite TV shows in the internet and it is really cool because you get to watch them at your own time whenever you wanted them...you don't have to look for the TV show schedules anymore. It made me think that the internet is pretty advanced nowadays and i'm afraid that TV business might ran out of viewers when all the TV shows can be seen in the internet.
Yes, I believe that internet is a wonderful invention because you can practically access them anywhere and you can do everything through them...you can watch movies, TV shows, even work with them, send mails, pay bills...purchase an item...etc. Some people live their lives through the internet and they have a freelancing business...with the advent of internet connections, companies may not be available anymore because a lot of people might be worknig online.
Nice topic you started here hanxyoung....happy mylotting.

I just love the Internet, but I admit I don't even watch movies or tv shows on the Internet, and I do prefer to watch the news on the old-fashioned television set, lol. But the Internet is my main source of entertainment and information.

Of course you can watch tv shows without interruption on your computer, on top of checking email and other things, I still think that watching it on a big tv screen is better. :)
