Do you have people from work as friends on facebook?

Would you add people you work with as friends on facebook? I know that people use facebook for different things, some more career oriented and some more social. I have heard of people losing their jobs over things they have posted to facebook, so it seems like a good idea to me not to mix the two. When I see someone with hundreds of people on their friends list, my first thought, especially if they're young is, "they friended their whole graduating class". Of course, there are some companies where it might be perfectly ok for employees to put everyone they ever met on their friends list. But sometimes it just seems like a bad idea to put your high school and college friends, co-workers, your biker cousins, your born-again inlaws, that guy who moved away after kindergarten you never saw again, and your grandma all on your friends list, well, anything could happen! What does your friend list look like?

my friends list in facebook looks normal, not to long and also not to short, most of them my work mate and then my family. Not bad for newbie.

That sounds like a good way to do it. Just have a manageable list of friends and not everyone you ever met. If I had hundreds of people as friends and tried to keep track of them all I wouldn't get anything else done!

That is a good way to look at it. As long as you feel comfortable with having them as friends there is nothing wrong with it. It's when you have a very diverse group of people from different areas of your life that I can see the potential for problems.

My facebook friend list is fairly short. I have a few friends from a couple other socal groups I'm from. A few friends that are from school, and other people I've met online. All in all I have 22 people on my friendlist, a few of them well most of them I know, others the names sound like people i might know, but I don't remember. Facebook is a good way to connect. Those who have so many friends, there is nothing wrong with that. What's costing jobs is what's said. Most people think if you say something online it goes away, but it doesn't. And, sometimes people don't have to be your friends to see what's on that wall. so you should watch what you say.

I have a fairly short list, too, mostly family members with a few old friends and former co-workers. I was looking around for people I used to know the other day and was surprised at the amount of information I could see on some people who weren't on my friend list. Some of the people on my list write things on their wall that I, personally, wouldn't want co-workers to see, but as long as they aren't coming over and writing it on my wall, it's their problem and not mine!
