For the past two years I have been paying 150 pesos per month (3 US dollars roughly, even less i think) for my cable TV subscription. I bet mylot members from other countries would be envious . I share the subscription with four other households. But just last night it was even reduced to 100 pesos (2 dollars, even less) since a boarder on one of the households wants to have his own cable TV connection in his room. How good can this get?

but the quality of the shows or the viewing gets lesser as you add more units from a single line of cable, right? and may i ask, is this legal? does your provider know about the multi-unit connected to one cable?

collectors or linemen don't seem to be so strict too here in our place. but what you will mostly see here roaming around are illegal tappers. they go house to house and offers free tap from the line post. actually not free cause they ask for some amount for the cable materials. the free actually is the monthly subscription. illegal, still.

It's illegal but the cable guys don't care and they're not strict about one TV one subscription only. All my neigbors have cable TV and the collectors don't seem a bit worried or even give warnings when they collect the money. So i guess they are aware of what's going on.

You're quite lucky, the cable company you're subscribed to haven't catch you. That's prohibited you know. Our cable company said that it should be one TV, one subscription. We have two television sets, one in the living room and the other one is inside our bedroom and we have two subscription, so we're paying a thousand pesos a month at P500 each just for the cable connection.

I think the cable guys who about it. They just chose to turn a blind eye. Almost everyone in our neighborhood use splitters. I think Skycable has found a way to avoid illegal connection by using a box. A friend told me that you can no longer use splitters with sky cable now. Good thing that destiny cable is not yet going this way otherwise it's going to be bye bye cable. .

That is an amazing price to pay for cable. I am in Australia until December when I return to Thailand, and I can't afford cable here. When I return to Thailand, the cable there costs Baht350, or about ten US dollars, and I consider this very cheap. Yours is half, good luck.

It's almost the same if i pay the subscription alone. But we split it in five that's why it cheap. So i guess you still have a few months of loneliness ahead. Cheers!

Yeah its very cheap. I had a minor disagreement with one of the households last month because of the additional member. I was not really against it, but i was not consulted that they want to add another connection. We just use a splitter for our connection so the more households are connected to the main connection the more it affects the clarity of the picture. That's my primary concern since i don't want to sacrifices the picture quality just to pay a few bucks less. But it turned out that the effect is very minimal in fact nothing at all.

My roommie has Comcast Cable, and with 3 boxes set up and no movie channels it is $97.00 and some change, United States dollars. My mouth is just hanging open reading how cheap cable is in the other countries that responded.

I can't believe what you pay that is great. I just wonder why its not like that all over. My cable tv bill is 65 dollars a month and that is WITHOUT a movie channel such as HBO or Starz. It just basic cable.

What 65 dollars with no HBO channel? come on man it's a rip off. I bet you can use that money to upgrade you internet connection for faster bandwidth as suggested by abitcurious. If i'm not mistaken our cable TV connection have two HBO channels in it, the difference is that the other channel has a Chinese sub title in it.

I don't understand why the rest of us are paying so much! It takes the same equipment, basically, and the same satellites to get the programs. I'm paying $28 a month for a very basic package and would not pay that at all if I could get reception of local channels!

Hahaha i guess some guys are lucky. We have a good reception if we use the antennae but not as good when you compare it to cable TV. Besides the fee that i have to pay is more than a bargain. But i have an outdoor antennae as reserve since there are days that we don't have cable TV so it comes handy.

Yes we have DTH here too but the problem is you have to buy the disk. That kind of service is more popular in the provinces since it's more practical there are places where it's too far to reach if you use cable. But i also see a couple of houses who use a disk rather than cable.

I was about to say that even I don't have that super cheap cable when I realized you were sharing the bill with somebody else. I'm thinking of dropping my cable subscription since I can download most of my favorite programs using torrent sites and everything. Instead I'd like to upgrade my bandwidth so I can download faster. Half of the channels here are either in a foreign language or not really that interesting. I'd miss most of discovery and nat geo programs though, and maybe some cooking shows.

I would still prefer to use TV than view it on a PC monitor. Not only is the TV screen bigger but it's usually on more than 8 hours a day. Besides with the price that i'm paying for the subscription is more than a bargain.
