Would you like to be popular or be honest and tell the truth, b'cos at times being popular means even being dishonest - not that I mean that popularity means dishonesty; I am asking only when a situation lie this crops up- popular versus your integrity or sticking by your policy.?

Nowadays fame and fortune is the mantra of many people. You just have to see the number of reality and talent hunt shows mushrooming on TV and see how aggressively the participants do their thing.even young children are not spared and are encouraged and egged on by their parents to go ahead.Instant money and fame are the goals of such people. In some ways it is good for those taking oart since their career gets made but many lose their way and suffer for it. Dishonest means are also employed sometimes to achieve the goals and one finds those who do not deserve are declared winners.Popularity and fame are transitory and last for only a short while wheras integrity and honesty give one a good character even if one does not make much money. I, personally do not wish for fame at the cost of honesty and integrity and prefer to stick to my principles no matter what the outcome.

i'd rather be honest than popular...anyway, once you tell the truth, whether they believe you or not, you become popular. don't you think so?

they say 'truth is bitter'- so sometimes when you tell the truth and it is not palatable to the other then your 'popularity rating'may even go down . That is what I meant

Popularity is fleeting. It might be nice for a little bit. Just a taste of being popular might be fun. However, more than a taste and there can be problems. Being popular is just constantly being on your toes and worrying about what people think about you. I would rather be just another face in the crowd, because I think I have more than enough to worry about. Plus, popularity can be a double edge sword. There might be many friends, but you also have your share of enemies when popular. People willing to take you down for their own benefit. If I am honest, then those people who are really my friends would stick with me. Sacrificing my integrity for something that is fleeting, not exactly something that I want to really do.

Yes, I like to be popular but only for my good work, I don't want to be dishonest.
