I didn't realize Kodak made an SLR camera anymore.
Usually people consider Canon and Nikon when considering dslr cameras. I wouldn't rule out Sony and Olympus either. It is hard for someone to tell you what camera you should buy. We all have our preference for our own personal reasons. I myself use Canon. But I know a lot of people who are happy with Nikon. I have seen great images taken with Sony cameras.
You really need to do your homework, especially if you think you might want to upgrade your camera at some point (which most people do, especially with digital.) Keep in mind that when you buy an slr, you will need lenses for that camera, and depending on what type of photography you enjoy, you will most likely want more and better lenses than the "kit" lens that usually comes with a body. So when looking for your first slr camera body, you really need to think about the brand you are buying into. If you add lenses and flashes to your camera bag, you will be able to use those on a new body if you upgrade as long as you stick with the same brand. I think a lot of people don't consider this when they buy a camera. It may not seem important now, but if your interest grows and you decide later you want to switch brands, it could get expensive if you replace all your equipment.
Good luck in your search. I hope you will be happy with whatever you find.
