in my opinion, The first teacher we have in our live in the most cases are our parents. They teach us speak, behave ourselves, walk etc..so i totally agree with the statement parents are the best teacher and i would say that parents are the first my teachers.
They with great patience pass down the essential knowledge that we need in order to join "the real world". Children often copy their parent's habits and traits. Often children first wish in to be like their father or mother. in addition, they wish their children a success and they do not teach bad things. They give their knowledge that can not be taken from the books.
Mylotters, Do you Agree that parents are the best teacher ? let me know your reason.

Hello...
I strongly disagree that parents are the best teachers. They may be the first teachers, but not the best. They may be the most valuable people in our lives, but they don't always teach the right thing.
I'm a school guidance counselor in a small town and I have encountered a lot of student problem. Most (99%) of the problems roots from their family. Usually the parents criticize their children instead of appreciating them. Parents who broke up obviously don't show good lesson to their children.
So, I agree that parents are our first good teachers..but they usually not the best.

hi cycomz, i am sorry to hear that. i don't believe 99% of problems root from their family, In my life, my family is main supporter and give me comfortable in life. we have different cultures. i hope you as guidance counselor can help them to solve their problems, maybe not all problems.
Thank for your response and share your experience.
Regards.

oops..I did not mean 99% of the people, but 99% of those students I counsel...their problems always bring the discussion to their families..Me? My family supported me too..but these students??? If was not exposed to them, I might have concluded that all parents are teachers, guardians, motivators..but talking to them, gathering information about them opened my eyes to one of the realities of these world..maybe you know somebody who is also a guidance counselor or the like, try asking them..
Thanks..God bless..Peace be with you..(",)

hai myl0t, i think the opinion is not all true. because we sometimes found that a parents never do like a good teacher.so i think it depends on how the person who had to be parents understand their function or task to be a good teacher for his kids.

hi adhy, we can found that. if i compare between teacher(formal education) and parents, i choose parents as the best teacher and also if i compare between parents who neglected them and parents who keep them, The most parents keep them. i am sure all parents love their children.

I don't agree with the idea that parents are the best teacher but I agree that they are the first teachers. I think parents could be the best teacher but not all parents are the best teachers because many parents do not teach their children well.

I agree, on condition. The condition being that the parent is interested in teaching their child. Many parents, in many cultures, have children simply to perpetuate the family line but do not pour into their children the tender love and care that every little one craves. Similarly, many parents are too busy to take time to teach their children beyond the simply walking and talking.
But if we are speaking of the parent who delights in their children, desires to pass on knowledge and information, then yes I absolutely agree. As parents, we have a special insight into our children. Often times, they have the same strengths and weaknesses in learning as we and our spouses have. Maybe they are visual learners like us, so we know how to help them learn in a way that is suitable for them personally. we also know their personality and interests better than anyone else, so we can tailor learning time to be an interesting and fun time for our children. I can't think of any better teacher for our children than we the parents.

I absolutely agree with you. Parents were the best teacher. They plays major role in shaping our character, personality and our future. They're the one who taught us about love, respect and responsibility. We are the mirror of our parents. I always remember my mom way back then, every time I bring my classmates at home, she always ask them who were their parents and where they live. My mom judge them from where they come from, although in some cases it's not applicable, but still that's where she get some hint and idea.

I am interested in this statement in your statement "we are the mirror of our parents". i think its' not fully correct, i found some children have bad attitudes (drinker, gambling) but their parents have good attitudes. If we refer to this statement, maybe we think the parents has same attitude with children.
Commonly, i agree with your statement if we put this statement in better context.
Thank.

Yes, because they can teach us the real lessons that actually matter: lessons in life. Plus when things go bad, we can always rest assured that they are there, ready for a chat when we need them
However, depending on how good the parent is will depend on how good of teachers they will make to their children I suppose

However in order to success in today's world children than more need just know good manner and be able to read and write. They also need the real teacher who would teach them logic, mathematics, economic, etc .. to reach that our parents send us to school to learn in academic.

We all consider that experience is the best teacher and not the parents. That's the answer if we base it from what we learn about different things. But if we focus with the intention of teaching and the drive to teach, maybe that's the time we can say that our parents are the best teacher.
No one among others are very much concern of teaching you than your parents. They want you to learn many things deeply with the sincerest intention to make you an intellectual individual.

Parents MUST BE The Best Teachers because as what you said we will copy the things that they are doing especially their traits, habits, attitudes and other more that we can get from them. It is not really easy to be a parent to a kid. At times it reflects on a behaviour of a kid of what kind of parents does he have including the kind of environment he belongs. Parents must be a good role model. How can they teach the kids about good manners if they can't see it to their parents? Children needs a good example and influence because if not no wonder that they will be in a wrong direction.

Hi there myl0t1!
I totally agree with you. Our parents are really our first teachers and best teachers. We do not just learn the basics such as reading, writing, etc. We also learn the best lessons in life from them. They are one of our best sources of wisdom.

hello mylot1!
thanks for directing me to this discussion...
i do agree with you and i can attest to that. i always say that my parents specially my mom is my first teacher. she's the one who taught me almost all of the basic things that i should know. i can say that she molded me...
actually she has become my idol...hehe
my mom teach me how to write, read, do things on my own, the basic household chores, the things that i need to know about life...\
she pass to me the things that she have learned from her mom too!
our parents always wanted the best for their children and they are the most happy person whenever we achieve something in our life...on my experience, i can say that my happiness is their happiness, and their happiness is my happiness...
my brother & i are very thankful to our parents for bringing us up the way we are and one of the best thing that i learn from my parents is to have faith and to have a good relation with God.
i can say that our parents is our best and first teacher...but as we have our journey in this life, our life experiences are also a good teacher...
so i think, our parents teachings together with our life experiences is what make us who we are now...

Yes, my friend. I agree with you with 100% that our parents is the best teacher throughout our life. They way they help us learn about the world around us with much love, patience and care is really incomparable to any others. When I was first admitted to school teachers and other students were amazed with my knowledge and I was placed in the first position in final exam to all's surprise. This was possible because my parents taught me so. I'm grateful to Allah for creating me through such parents and thankful to my parents for bringing me up in such manner. May Allah grant my parents a long life.

i totally agree, they were the first who educated and still is educating us, not because my mom is a school teacher, that is a plus for me, but they we're the first who teach us how to speak. values formation is fisrt learnt from the family. so what ever the upbringing of one person is a result of how a parent trains up his kids. the bible said train up a child in away he should and when he is old he will not depart from it. you may argue with me on that statement, of course each of us is given the freedom. it's up to us now if we follow our parents teachings or not. :-)
