AVATAR v THE HURT LOCKER!!!

hi mylotters! which movie do you think will dominate this year's oscar awards - AVATAR or THE HURT LOCKER? both have received 9 nominations each. so far THE HURT LOCKER has swept more awards than AVATAR. it's an iraq war thriller directed by James Cameron's ex-wife Katheryn Bigelow. Cameron himself have stated that THE HURT LOCKER will come out triumphant over his own AVATAR. i haven't watched THE HURT LOCKER yet but i'm really dying to watch it as i'm a huge war movie fan! in fact my all time favorite movie is SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, a world war 2 masterpiece by Steven Spielberg! so people, which of the two movies do you like better - AVATAR or THE HURT LOCKER?

I haven't seen either of them yet, but I'm hoping to before the Oscars are given. From what I've been hearing, I have a feeling "The Hurt Locker" is going to win a lot of awards. "Avatar" sounds amazing also but it's more because of the technology used while "The Hurt Locker" is based on things that actually are happening right now.
Of course, it's hard to tell; sometimes the Oscars, the critics and the box office totals all disagree with each other. Now and then a big hit that the critics also loved will win Best Picture but that doesn't always happen. "Blockbusters" with great special effects aren't guaranteed to win a thing even if millions of people flock to see them.

i agree with you! even i have the feeling that THE HURT LOCKER will win more. it has won a lot so far. AVATAR's mostly all about the new technology in movie-making. the storyline isn't much of an impact as much as it's new technology. but who knows what the gurus have in store at the awards! the biggest example being 1999 - when SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE won 7 awards, including best picture, and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN had to settle with 5. critics had suggested with confidence that at least the best picture award will go to SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. so lets get ready for the surprises and upsets too!

Avatar and The Hurt Locker have their own right to be the best. So I should say if its possible that 2 movies could be tie in winning the best picture in Oscar awards. So you still haven't watch The Hurt Locker eh? Download it in uTorrent. So you could compare those 2 movies. The world of Pandora in Avatar which is an illusion by James Cameron or The Hurt Locker which is the REAL world that is happening Iraq?

I think this time in oscar AVATAR gonna make it...its a far bette movie than hurt locker...its special effects are beyond any match...if u see the making of AVATAR then u would probably know how difficult it was to make such an epic film..so my vote goes to AVATAR..best of luck!!!!!

Although I do think it is quite over-rated, I have to go with Avatar here
The visuals and the 3-D effects were amazing, and the action scenes were really good.
The Hurt Locker, as much as I enjoyed it, was no match for the giant that was Avatar

i agree with you - AVATAR entertains the audiences more than THE HURT LOCKER. and with it's new technology in movie-making, it's quite special. but as far as the story and plot, and whatever it is the movie gurus consider, it seems THE HURT LOCKER is the better choice for the awards. thanks for the response!

I think avater movie. As i like it so much. But i didn't watch hurt locker yet. That's i couldn't judge it. But avater also expect to get oscar. So i hope avater will get.

i think Avatar better than The Hurt Locker.Avatar is a great movie.have something different from other movie,from the effect,animation and many thing.Avatar is sophisticated movie.we can see from antusiasm people around the world accept this movie very well,so Avatar is the best.but it's only my opinion.
