Do you remember how excited I was just one month back when I bought my new cell phone?
I started a discussion here to share my feelings and happiness.
Here is the discussion:
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2224473.aspx
I am really unable to forget it. It was brand new, and somebody thought it was worth stealing it. And the worst part is I lost it in my workplace.
My office is completely under CCTV surveillance but the admin will not check those cameras as they are only for my company purpose and not for employees.
I am just brooding over it now for many days until I buy a new one for me.
Has anyone else gone though this?? Have you lost a very precious and personal phone so soon? What did you in order to find your phone back? Or did you just leave it and buy a new one?

Hi Pupupd, sorry to hear you lost your new cell phone. It really not easy to forget it. But you should make a good effort and relax. There will be uneasiness after losing such a valuable cell phone.
I too had this kind of experience. I had lost my cell phone and felt really bad though it was not as new as yours. I just started using a new cell phone. But to my surprise one day I got a call and was informed that my cell phone has been found with some thieves caught by the police. It took a long time to get the cell phone back as the case was in Court. At last, I got back my cell phone without spending a penny.
Wish you will get back your cell phone!
Happy Mylotting!

You are really to have found your cell. The police in your area are really active and they catched those thieves but the ones in my area hardly do any work, they just sit and find out ways to eat and increase their waistline. You must come to my city and see the figure of police around here. No one has less than 40 size waist. Sometimes I think they compete with each other to have largest belly.
So, I expect nothing from them. Also the theft has happened inside my office and one of the employees have done it. Because the other guys who work in pantry/washroom they are checked thouroughly before they enter office premises and before they leave, so no way they can steal anything and escape.

Dear Pupupd
First of all I want to tell you that please no need to worry about past... Me to faced the same experience few months back that I lost my phone... Here whats the main problem is contact numbers....Even I am not too much of sad about my cell missed cell phone instead of that I felt a lot for my contact numbers... Because these are my treasures... I am always used to store all my friends and relatives numbers directly to cell phone and I didnt make any diary for this.. That time really I felt so sad but immediately I recovered from my sad and realized and started to find the solution for this... Because simply sitting and worrying which never gives a good solution to us....

Thanks for consoling me I really need some one to support me. I feel broken. No one would have lost his/her cell so early like me. I am feeling really depresssed, I am trying to find out ways to get it back day and night but in vain. I know I cannot do anything now to get it back. The least I can do is go to police station and block my phone. It has been 5 days since I lost it and I still cannot forget it. After all it was from my first salary of life.
I did not lock my phone just hoping that my company might find it out some way and I may have to again go and unblock it.

Sorry to hear that. I'd be mad....
I haven't lost a phone. Somebody did steal a cassette player that I had left in my desk at work, but it was one that I had won at a raffle, so at least it wasn't something I had paid for. It was a nice one though. :-(

oh!! I am soryry for your loss. Even though you did not pay for it but you had won it, so It would have reminded you of your win but somebody stole it and now you are missing it. Any valuable thing if lost is a great shock for the owner regardless of it's cost!

I know how you feel when you've lost something especially a cellphone. Dont worry about it, it hadn't been with you for long othewise you would have missed it more. You can buy a new phone of the same model., why not buy a new one?
I lost my mobile phone twice. Both the times it was stolen along with my wallet and money. Its very sad when you lose something but no need to worry too much, you can buy a new one.

Thanks a lot user_786. I am missing it cause it was very costly and I have already lost many expensive cells before as well, by lost I mean I did not lose it someone else but they had some or the other fault and stopped working completely and they became useless which were beyond repair. One had its fron screen broken, one stopped working suddenly without any reason and third one fell into water tub and stopped. I really have bad luck for expensive phones.

Well, that is very sad news as it is very much unforgettable if we buy a new thing and loose it within a month's time and that too an expensive one. I had also lost a cell phone of mine which was about to become two years old and just in the nick of time, I lost it. I was going in a cab at a nearby station and while giving money to the driver, I put my hand in my pant's pocket and while taking out the money, my mobile slipped from my pant's pocket on his seat loosing all my personal data and contacts with it which I realized later and I actually called on my number to see whether the cab driver will come back and give it to me. But that didn't happen and he switched off my cell phone.
A day later I went to police station and lodged a written lost complaint for it, but nothing was found and so I gave up even after questioning a few people at the spot. Later, in few months time, I bought a new cell phone for me and now life seems back to normal!!

Well, it was very unfortunate on your part that the CCTV's and camera where focused in the opposite direction. I only the incident had got recorded by a single camera, it would have been of a great help to you!!

You tried your best to get your cell back. Same thing happened with me. I called my number, it ringed for two times and then someone cut my call and nect time I called it said switched off. I even asked the admin in my office to check the cameras/CCTVs and he actually did it for me. But sadly the cameras are focussed in opposite direction of where I left my cell and no evidence was found. So I had to give up and now I am trying to forget my brand new cell!

I also once lost my cellphone and my almost 8-year old sim card. all my contacts are there and I didn't have a copy of their numbers. One more thing, I used that number as my contact information in all my job applications. i was devastated because i lost not only possible job opportunities but also lost contact with many of my friends.
but it was a lesson learned and i learned to be more careful with my valuables.

I am sorry for your loss. It is really sad when you lose something that you value. I guess you can't really be too trusting. You have to make sure that all your valuables are secure. I always bring my phone with me wherever I go so I guess that minimizes the chance of it getting stolen. I agree with the other mylotters that the hardest part in losing a cellphone is the contacts. Though a lot of phones nowadays can be connected to the computer and the phone numbers stored in the computer as backup.

Hi Dear
really sorry to hear about ur cell phone, and sure its shocking when it happened in office, place where u spend most of time, place where u can blame anyone.
But its really stupid that if IT dept is recording office via CCTV then they must check as its for office as well, such person who did it can be harmful for company as well. I wonder if u launch complaint to ur HR/Admin Manager??

Aww, I am so sorry to hear that.. Well, I experienced losing a 1 week old phone two years ago. We were walking outside Greenhills shopping mall when someone snatched my mobile phone from my hubby's body bag... My hubby tried to catch the snatcher. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to do so.. We thought that there's a big possibility that my mobile phone will be sold at one of stalls in Greenhills since it's the biggest shop of brand new and second hand mobile phones in the Philippines.. We went back to the store where i bought my vodafone and I saw a phone that looks exactly the same as mine.. I checked it out and to my surprise I saw the photo of my shih tzu pup that i snapped right after I bought my phone. I told the store owner about the snatching incident. I asked her if there's a possibility that they can return the stolen mobilephone from me.. without any hesitation, she handed the handset to me.. wuhoo!!! God is really goood!

I am sorry to hear that you lost your new phone. that really has to be frustrating, and the worst part, you know were you lost it, your boss doesn't seem concerned enough to help you get it back. I had lost a cell phone, once, but lucky for me, I got it back the same day, as a lady had found it in the Walmart parking lot. I didn't know it was gone, until the lady who found it, called my daughter on her cell, and sked her if she new me, and she saide I was her monther, so my daughter met her in the parking lot and I got it back. At least she was honest enough to see to it I got it back. It could have been someone dishonest, and I would have never dot it back. I am thankful I did, as it was the only phone I had, and since then I have upgraded, but it being the only phone I have or use, I sure can't afford to lose it. The phone I have now, falls out of the case if my purse flips outside down, so I have to be careful I don't lose it. It has fallen out at home and it did fall out onto my son's driveway, but I manged to see it there and put it back in the case, and the phone still works, as it didn't fall far, and it didn't get any scratches on it at all. Anywaym, I sure hoep you can get your phone back or can replace it with the same model again. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Hi, Good to hear that you got your cell back. I am not so lucky, my cell was taken by some dishonest person in my office and I have lost it now. My boss can't do anything about this, it is the admin's responsibility to look after lost and found things. He also checked the cameras on my request as I told him you can do it in order to catch the culprit. But unfortunately the cameras focus on the office doors and not on the pantry where I remember keeping my cell last. Now I have got a new cell with similar features except 3G, I dont think I will need that in next 2-3 year's time.

I find it's surprising that your company admin will not check the CCTV cameras so you can check who the culprit was because the mere fact that you have a theft within you makes it dangerous for everyone. When your phone got lost within company premises it means it's the company's responsibility to exert some effort to find out who the theft was. The company is suppose to protect it's employees. Like you i thought i lost my phone in the office too but it turned out that i just left it in my desk.

I've had that happen before. I've lost two phones, but I usually have a panic attack and replace them within 24 hours. I have a month to replace them or, I have to pay an early contract closing fee. So to avoid paying larger bills then I can afford, I replace them as quickly as possible.
