It's really hard to earn anything online from writing children's stories. The only way to really earn with that, basically, is by publishing a book. The other option might be to publish them on a site that you earn per views, such as Associated Content, but even then you won't make very much money unless you really market those articles.
If you want to write to earn money, though, writing articles can be pretty profitable. Try sites like Associated Content, ehow, or textbroker. You don't always make a whole lot of money, but they can definitely supplement income and if you put enough effort into it then you can most definitely get to a point where you're making pretty good money. But that takes a lot of work, dedication, and time.
Good luck!

If I am not mistaken Lulu is a better bet for children's stories. Associated Content is very strict, and your submission can be rejected for what many may see as trivial. Lulu has been around for many years and thus may be a good site to start with your project. Though I have been a member there for more than 3 years, have not submitted anything. So I cannot really say about its payment.
