Why girl fears from darkness

I'm not afraid of the dark hun. I recognise that there can be some nasty things lurking in the dark but I don't see why I should be afraid to walk in the dark.

For me...i am afraid of the dark becoz,it can hide all the evil things. Not becoz of ghosts or any creepy thoughts,but,maybe someone will attack me or hurt me. I would never walk home alone in the dark,i would rather stay in an open field with lights on. Or spend the night on the busy streets with people and lights of posts and from the buses. Girls are weaker when it comes to physical aspects,that is why,we are afraid of who will gonna attack us in the darkness.

I don't really think that it is only girls are afraid of the dark. I think both boys and girls are afraid of the dark. Maybe girls are more apt to admit it though. I think people fear the dark because it is an unknown. It is possible that there is something there waiting to hurt us that we can't see. We also learn that the dark can be scary from books, tv, and movies.

I think it's not really just limited to girls. For sure there are also a lot guys who fear darkness. The only thing why they don't say so is because it would give them an image which is not attracting at all. I mean seriously if a guy is having fun with his friends and then when they go home alone how would those buddies react if you would say: "Oh actually I am afraid of darkness!" They would all laugh about you and would probably lose all the respect for you as a man. As for girls, it doesn't matter if you are honest in this matter. After all it's not a girl task to protect someone from darkness. No I think it's a guy task...protecting their girlfriend when they run around at night like when they just left a party. I mean it's also something which makes the boyfriend feel like a hero then..protecting his girlfriend... I think the reason why girls are afraid is simply...well it's dark. Darkness is always symbolized with something evil. It's always like that, don't know why but the mankind started many generations ago that darkness is something evil and light is something positive. I mean you never know what is waiting for your in the darkness if you can't see anything. It's something which makes people afraid of it..being not able to see what is lying ahead of them..

I like d' light better than darkness. I just feel as if i couldn't breathe in d' darkness. When the electricity is shutting down, I immediately grab d' flashlight or i get outta d' house.

a nice question! I really don't know why girls fear from darkness, maybe it is something mental, i mean, they know that most girls are afraid of darkness, and that's why they begin fear of it too! or maybe it is just their nature. I really don't know

It must be because of the fear instilled to people when we were children, that in the darkness ghost or monster lurk, waiting for kids that could be eaten and maybe because some horror movies which depicted most horrifying scenes in the dark. But I think it is not only the girls who are mostly afraid of the dark. Guys are too, atleast many of them, some may not just confess upfront but I'm sure many guys are also scared of the dark as much as the girls.
