i usually have bouts before i could really get some sleep...trying to find the right position that won't hurt my neck, shoulders and back. been using ordinary pillows for years. i tried using a washable pillow with 'i don't know what kind of' fibers that were inside it but didn't helped a bit. so, what's the best kind of pillow have you used so far? how much do they cost? where can i find it?

I use a Serta Memory Foam Contour Pillow. It helps aline your spine as you sleep. I used to get neck and back pain all the time and my Doctor recommended it. I bought my last one at overstock.com on line. Here is a link if you want to check it out. Hope this helps.

This was a very good suggestion. Even though we all feel like our heads should be elevated this is not the case. You are right, our necks need to be aligned with our spines, so the thickness of the pillow really depends on the position that you sleep in. I normally start out on my side so my head is on the pillow and slightly elevated, however recently during the night I roll onto my back and in my sleep I slide down and wake up with my head off of the pillow. So I unconsciously move into the most comfortable position. I would say try the Serta Memory, if it works, then it is worth the cost.
