I'm not sure if many of you are aware (as I wasn't untill recently) but the japanese Studio Ghibli do some fantastic animated films. Their most recent being Ponyo which I loved. Are any of you here Studio Ghibli fans? If so, which is your favourite film?

Hi Ford666UK! I'm a fan of Hayao Miyazaki's animated films ever since I was a kid. My favorite films are Hauru no Ugoku Shiro or Howl's Moving Castle and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi which has a different english title, Spirited Away. I also liked Lupin III which is very funny. Gake no ue no Ponyo is a very nice film too. I had a collection of Studio Ghibli films but it's all Japanese dubbed since I can't understand english that well. I recommend you to watch all of his films, you'll love it. I hope many westerners too will love Mr. Miyazaki's work. Happy mylotting!

Thanks. Spirited Away has to be one of my favourites - I have seen about 4 films now and will probably watch a couple over the weekend including Porco Rosso

I haven't seen alot of these movies, but we went and saw Howl's moving Castle in the theatres and this was a great movie. My wife loathes most of the anime movies I have so she wasn't excited about going to the movies to see this, but she enjoyed it as well.

Heck, yeah! The one director I am a fan of from studio ghibli is hayao miyazaki. his films have a very different feel to them that I just can't find in any other anime. his stories are fresh, simple, unique. His characters are admirable, cute, and so human(even when they are magical creatures) Not to mention, the graphics in his movies are outstanding. My eyes are always wide open when I watch his films so that I can take in as much detail in each picture as I can.

My favorite film is "Whisper of the Heart." I like the plot of the movie. Never thought that a person knew you all along. What I meant to say is that the guy knew the girl's name because they borrowed the same book from the library and the name is written in the card of the book. In the long run, they became friends until they promise to love each other forever. I wish I have the same fate as them. ^^,

I love Studio Ghibli! It seems like every movie they make is amazing. I'd pick up any title by them any day. I remember watching Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky when I was younger but I didn't realize that they were Ghibli works at the time. It wasn't until I saw Princess Mononoke years ago that I fell in love. That movie is the whole reason why I'm such an anime fan today. I was amazed by the storyline (different from any American cartoon I've ever seen before it) as well as the beautiful animation. Since then I've been a fan of anything Ghibli. And I'm really looking forward to the new movie that will be coming out in December of this year. It's called "Karigurashi no Arriety (Arriety the Borrower)" and is based on the novel 'The Borrowers' by Mary Norton. Even though Miyazaki Hayao isn't directing this one I'm still looking forward to it.
