Do you remember your high school prom? What was it like?
Today is my neighbor Quint's prom. His mom had died already and his dad works in a different island, so he's pretty much on his own, except for their househelp and his cousin who's also a student. Well, today i helped Quint prepare for his prom. We did not rent a tuxedo coz i thought almost all his classmates will wear one, and it's quite expensive to rent one. So what we did was go around the neighborhood and borrow some clothes! Hehehe. So i lent him my tie and vest. And we went to the other neighbor for a polo shirt. To another neighbor for a pair of trousers. And we shined his old pair of shoes. And that was it! He looked real handsome in the attire we made, i'm gonna upload his pic later on. Hehehehehe. The best part? We did not spend a single penny for his prom! So i drove him to his school and he looked really great. Hehehehehe.
Dont get me wrong, Quint's not poor. We just thought it wasnt very practical to spend a lot of money on something he's only gonna wear once. Hehehehe.
So what happened reminded me of my own prom some 10 years ago. It was funny coz prom night happened to be the night before a very important event for me: the night before my archery tournament! So i spent the day practicing at the shooting range, and only got 30 mins to prepare for the prom! Hehehehehe. And i wasnt able to take a shower before the prom because i just ran home from practice and put on my clothes and drove to school! What a wild day that was! And i wasnt able to stay and enjoy the party to coz i had to go home early top rest so i can prepare for my tournament the next morning.
Hehehehehe
How 'bout you? Do you remember what your prom was like?

I didn't attend my own prom, but I did attend with an old boyfriend at his. Honestly, it was horrible. His class had done a terrible job of raising the money to fund it! The food was decent and served by the school staff. The music was okay at best. The decorations... 6 streamers, 4 cardboard "columns", and the main decoration was a celestial sun and moon that his class had made with a roll of large paper and a gold magic marker. It was quite cheesy and honestly would've looked better just having the wall covered with colored paper. He spent about $50 on renting a tux. I spent $10 - for stockings, a decorative hair piece, and hair spray. I honestly felt kind of bad that he'd spent money on a tux . . . My junior high school dances were more festive, fun, and generally coordinated than his prom was. We ended up leaving early and going back to my house to watch movies.
I didn't attend my own prom, even though I had purchased a second hand dress. My boyfriend at the time refused to go, and I felt awkward going with anyone else. From the photos I saw, the decorations at my own prom were high end. I was told that the dinner was excellent, but most people changed from their formal wear to street clothes between the dinner and the dance, just after photographs were taken. *Boggles*

Maybe it would have been better if i didn't my prom either, i didn't know how or what it is all about but back then it was all about bringing the Girl and dance with her, which i did but it wasn't as glamerous as i thought it was. maybe i would have save a lot of money if i didn't attend at all

Well, your story is great. Quint's lucky to have friends like you. I still remember my high school prom, of course. I hate remembering it though. It's so sad because I have problems with my date at that time. I was in a stage where a girl experiences her first serious heartbreak.

hi oh I still remember mine as it was at the start of the second world war and only two of the ten boys in my senior class were at our prom as the others had all gone into the army; so we all got to dance with these two boys who were 4F and had been turned down to go into the armed services. I wore a long gown with red poppies all over it, while the dress I really had wanted was a pure blue or pink fluffy one. I was horribly shy and after sitting most of the dances out I got to dance with one boy and was thrilled at that. Gosh I was just barely 17 and so young. Now i am 83 and still remember that night so well.We were all so scared as we did not know what to expect when our country had entered the second world war, all our male classmates had been taken into the armed forces.wow can you just imagine all these girls and only two boys, we girls also danced with each other, we were all just a little too gay and too talkitive and parents probably did not realize how much our beloved US going into the war meant to us, and how afraid we all were, we had loved ones going off to maybe be shot and killed.

Good idea on the outfit. Must have saved a lot of money there xD
Tux rentals are soooo expensive these days. Jeez. And only for one night.
I myself didn't go to my own prom. I had an AP Calculus exam the next day. Yeah, whoever planned our prom were kind of stupid. Oh well.

Hi jjquiroz7! Its so nice of you to help your neighbor! Your prom night wasn't your priority that day! Well, mine was. It was only 6 years ago but it looks like it was forever ago! Mmm... I remember I had a black dress and a friend of my mom's did my hair and makeup and I really hated it, but there was no time to fix that! I had a lot of fun and it was a very BIG surprise for me that my dad let me stay until very late at night! What I'll never forget is that earlier my grandfater went to my house to give me a congratulations big hug. In my country family is invited to prom. But he wasn't able to attend the party because he was going to the hospital, unfortunally he passed away two weeks later! But, besides that, I had a great time with my friends! Keep mylotting, Libna.

hello jquiroz,
that's really nice of you since it's better to save and be more practical than spending too much time buying on clothes. but i did a long time, but the worst pat of that is i spend my time and money on the wrong js partner, which i totally regretted it after a few months.

huhuhu. There is no way I can remember any prom because I never had it when I was in high school. In my high school years, proms are celebrated one every two years. but when we are about to organize a prom during my 4th year, my school did not allowed us to have it because of the trouble happened the prom before that, so sad.

Honestly, it was just an ordinary prom for me because I wasn't that contented and happy that time for no reason. I don't know, maybe because I was too shy and quite allergic with the big crowd dancing and flirting all around because I was kinda conservative type and doesn't want to mingle with them so I just sat down together with my friends and had some talked so that's it very plain.

My group performed a song number in our Senior's Prom Night. I was not able to relax because of the fact that we were practicing for that number for days.
I only had one dance (with a friend) during the prom. Let's say I had two left feet so I just stood there and mingle with my classmate.

Honestly, I did not enjoy my prom that much. I enjoyed the company of my friends but I got bored almost the whole night. I prepared for my prom so I got a bit disappointed when it did not turn out the way I expected it to be. A month before my prom night my Mom and I looked for a beautiful design and style of dress in a magazine. I did not buy a ready made dress. I had it done in a dress shop by a dress maker as I want my dress to be unique. My Mom and I planned on my hairstyle and also make up. I was very excited to attend the Prom night but ended up disappointed.
