What is the problem if the computer constantly freezes? I am quite curious as to the source of this problem since I am taking up troubleshooting and diagnostics in my Computer Hardware and Software Technology subject.

Sometimes is about compatibility of the hardware like VGA, memory and HDD as well.
VGA if not compatible with a mobo it cause of freeze and lack of memory too. We have to clean also the registry using some freeware cleaner like ccleaner and defragment must do atleast once a week. Happy Lotting..

Hi SinFulRose !
There is not one but three main sources of problems :
1) RAM : download Windows Memory Diagnostic at
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
This software is independent of your OS : you must create a boot disk or CD to use it.
2) hard drive. In Windows, check your HDD with Scandisk to find and fix errors.
If your HDD is OK :
3) a software problem : a bad driver, a virus can freeze your computer.
The better way to diagnose this is to download a bootable image of a small linux live CD, by example PCLinuxOS ( http://pclinuxos.com/?page_id=10 ) with LXDE or XFCE desktop, or Puppy Linux ( http://puppylinux.org/main/index.php?file=Download%20Latest%20Release.htm ) and see if your computer freeze in Linux.
Have a good day !
