Why You Like Cats = What You Like in Your Partner

Hihi, just to share a theory I've come up with - that your preference for either a cat/dog is linked to the type of man/woman you're interested in. Personally, though an animal lover, I prefer cats because I like their elegance, cool attitude, independence and also that they are not overly passionate. Looking at my hubby, he does have these traits... ha! So not sure if you cat lovers think that this is true. For those who are attached, does your partner has the characteristics/mannerisms that a cat has? For those who are not attached, do you feel that you tend to be attracted to a man/woman who has "cat-like" traits? =) Curious, curious...

I've never thought of it that way. I have always believed that the personalities of our cats and dogs also reflect something from their owners. But that's an interesting theory you got. I am a dog lover, and my man loves dogs, too. My pet dog is really sweet, playful, obedient, and sometimes adamant.

Hi MimiRemo,
Thanks for sharing =)
For me, I think the personality of a preference (cat/dog) may just be the opposite to your own. I feel that in most relationships, opposites attract so that is why the personality of what you like (cat/dog) reflects your partner's personality. Just that, I don't often see similar preferences in a couple, like yours for example. So is "sweet, playful, obedient, and sometimes adamant" qualities that your partner possess? =)

Quite frankly I find that theroy interesting. Though now that you have made me think about it, my partner is kind of like my cat. Of course he thinks he is or was a cat. So about that... It almost makes you kind of think. Then again when we have thease conversations he's usually drunk so I don't know what to make of his comments.

I don't have a partner, but I love cats (well, I do) and while I have some very masculine cats, most cats have a touch of the vanity in them.
I hear (mostly men) say that cats are little women in fur coats.
Well, I have to say that I like guys that generally turn out to be gay, does that say anything to you?
I had a dear friend tell me that "oh, you'll just love my new boss."
"If so, then he's gay."
"Oh, he's not gay," she said, then.
A month later she called and said "I hate you." Turned out her new boss WAS gay!!!

Hi ElicBxn,
Ha, interesting! And you're right about this touch of vanity in cats - preening themselves constantly. So you probably like a man who is well-groomed? Take heart, cos now a new breed of men has surfaced aka the metreosexuals. They are straight but they take exceptionally good care of themselves, ranging from skincare to dressing. My hubby is one (not fully though). Hope you find your man soon... and he isn't gay =)

Well, I dont think we should compare our cats and our partners..but in a way or two, it can be true. Because practically, we love our cats because of some characteristics, just like when we look for someone (lol) What I like in cats is they are adorable, caring and sweet. Unbelievably, I have a partner with the same qualities. So, maybe or just for me, it is real.

Ican't say whether I think that's true or not. I have 2 cats and 3 dogs. My cats are extremely passionate. I guess my men were more like the dogs. Frisky, and always having their tongues out panting.

I like both cats and dogs.I love animals.I also want a partner who is an animal lover.I love dogs because of their friendly and warm attitude.I love cats because they are independent and can take care of themselves well.I guess I like those qualities in a potential partner.
