when did you choose your babies name?

I have three adult children and before they were born we had decided on a name if it was a boy and one if it was a girl because this was before the scan would let you know before the birth. My daughter cannot think of a name and she only has to think of a name for a boy as it is going to be a boy, our Grandson. She hopes that when she looks at him she will say ah you look like a ... and then it is made easy. Did you pick a name before or after the birth?

I chose my names for my children relatively easy because I wanted all of my children to have a name that meant the same as mine, therefore it took a long time researching different cultures and different pronunciations for names with the same meaning as my easy to remember name.

That's interesting. I wouldn't mind hearing the names.

While I would love to share them I try to keep my kids name off the Internet, but each of their names means born of love. One is phillipino/hawaiian. One is Irish. One is Cape Verdean/Portuguese. One is English and the french version of mine means this. My sons is the male version in Greek.

it takes 6 months for us to decide our first kid name and my second kid name is not yet finalised...really it is very difficult to find a name and then to select a name which is liked by everyone..

For both of my children I started thinking of names early on in my pregnancy. I thought it was fun to hear all the funny suggestions and combinations. However sometimes you need to look at the baby to see what exactly they will look like. With my son I changed his name when I got ready to sign the birth certificate, because as I got a few hours and days to look at him and get to know me, I thought the name I originally had didnt fit him.

In my last pregnancy I was expecting to have a baby girl and that did happen. I had a list of possible names before she was born. I liked the name Amber most of all so I decided to name her that. After my toddler son was born we couldn't think of a name. I was asked if I liked the name Teo so I said how about Leo. That is how my second son got his name. After my teenage son was born we couldn't decide on a name. I was asked if I liked the names Fox, Raven or Rex. I said no. After a while we decided on the name Ryan. Disappointingly that become a very popular boy's name.

We had a challenging time trying to decide what to name my first son. In the end someone suggested Ryan and that was the only name we could agree on. It was similar when my second son was born and silly suggestions were given. In the end I was asked if I liked the name Teo. I said no but asked if Leo was a suitable name. We agreed to name him Leo. In my third pregnancy I found out by ultrasound that I was expecting a baby girl. I looked on the Internet at girl's names. I drew up a list of possible names. I chose the name Amber. Ryan is aged 14. Leo is 2 years and nine months. Amber is 8 months old.

Hey I know I'm quite young to be thinking about children names, but I do have it all worked out lol :P A girls name would be Sarah-Marie Kelsey (surname) Reasons why is my Nana was called Sarah, my mum Marie and my name Kelsey. If a boy Shaun Tyler (surname) reasons being all Shaun's i know are handsome and lovely, and my mum was going to call me Tyler if I was a boy.

My sons' names were chosen before I even met my husband. One night I was very lonely and feeling as if life wasn't worth living. I had a dream and in it a man told me that I would meet someone soon and described my husband, even told me his name. He also told me I would have two sons and what I would name them, that I would get no disagreement from my husband. There was more but this is how my babies were named and how I knew they would both be boys. I'm grateful for that dream because it made me feel as if I was not alone and life would get better--and it did! The marriage didn't last but I have two wonderful sons.

I have one daughter, and when I was pregnant, I thought I wanted a boy because my nephew was so cute. But a couple weeks before I was due, my husband said, maybe you should pick a girl's name, cause of my history with gender. So I was reading a book about a spanish family and there was an aunt Marianna, and I though that was a beautiful name. Worked out well.
