How long does it take to determine if a person you know is sincere or not?

This question just occurred to me a few minutes ago, so I thought I would start a discussion about it.
I am thinking about one of my friends, who is very sincere, and who I knew was sincere, a short time after I met her.
Some people are not always how they appear to be. I have known people like this, too. ;)
Would you like to take part in this discussion?

hi fineartist!
For me it takes awhile to recognize a person's sincerity. As for me I know a person is true and sincere when he/she starts being with me in time of need. Joining me in every hardships and trials and is willing to help in any way. I sometimes feel it and I can see it from their actions and gestures. Yes, you are right, people sometimes act as if they do care but in reality they are just showing off and doesn't care at all. I've met someone I thought was caring and sincere but it was the other way around.
Happy Lotting!

There are always people out there that are not always all that they seem,so it is very hard to tell who is and who is not truely sincere.I had known someone for years and i thought that i could trust them with anything aswell as trust them never to repeat or judge me.I found out that that person was very two faced aswell as a back stabber and i found out the hard way so i have got to the stage in all of my friendships never to tell them too much as that way you do not have to worry about it.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
I am sorry that you had that bad experience. Too many people are two faced and some are back stabbers.
It is sometimes difficult to trust people after having had an experience in which we trusted someone who is untrustworthy.

I can usually tell right away like in a minute or two. Just like I am very good at spotting fake, lying, slick talking politicians. Bill Clinton and O'bama are two that I never trusted right from the start and they both proved to liars and promise breakers.

All you have to do is pay atention to their lives!
The way they treat their other friends, the way they treat their family
even the way they treat animals!
People with bad charecter usually let this 'darkness' spill over to their other traits, not just sincerity
