If I Don't Get The Job After All This Effort I May As Well Give Up!

As some of you will know, my "Mummy" is here this week lol. Besides being a funny person to be around she is also extremely intelligent...so she has helped me out when I filled in an online application form for a job I desperately want in Blackpool. Yes, BLACKPOOL!! Where I used to live! There is nothing in Carlisle so I may as well apply for stuff there.
The job in question? An Administration Officer at a Special Needs school that has been rated highly for the last 4 years, so it must be a positive place to work in.
Below is a link to this rather wonderful school. I am sure Winky would love it there!
Hubby has also helped with the scanning of the form after I printed it off (to sign it amongst other things) as it's a new printer so takes a while getting used to.
So, there you have it! A three-way effort! Like I said, if I don't get AT LEAST an interview I may as well give up as this particular form is awesome, even though I say so myself. It took me hours rather than minutes to complete as I wanted it to look "right" so fingers crossed I shall get somewhere...at last!

Oh wow, what a lovely thing to say to me, thank you sooo much! I'm not one for prayers myself (but I do believe) and I really am tempted to get on my knees beside my bed and pray my heart out! It can't hurt can it? I have done it in the past and it felt really good, so I reckon it's long overdue. I am enjoying Mum's company as she has this positive energy about her. I can't explain it. She may even know someone who works at Woodlands School (cook) so if anyone can change my luck, my Mum can!

Good luck for the job. i know what it is like without a job. My daughter has been looking for the last year. finally got a 3 and half week one. With the recession starting to go the jobs will start coming out of the woodwork, But so many people are out of work still there is a lot of competition.

Sorry to hear about your daughter but at least she did get a job, no matter how small. It will give her more confidence and she can put it on her CV. After all, it's not her fault that it's only for 3 and a half weeks, that's the way of world these days, unfortunately. You are right about competition too. For every job there are so many applicants that it is an achievement in itself to get an interview. I wish your daughter further luck in her job search.

So, will you move back to Blackpool, or commute?

Yes, what I would do is live with Mum during the week and commute on the Friday, then travel back for the Monday. I used to do this when I first started going out with John. The thing is, I did work in Preston, which is nearer to Carlisle than Blackpool, so it may even be a fortnighly commute, I will have to cross that bridge when I come to it.

Best of luck.
But do you really want to work at a place that can't spell? (centre instead of center)
Crazy American...
Just kidding, hope you get it!

Maybe one of these years we'll all agree on some spelling system that's phonetic.
No, scratch that, makes too much sense!

Haha! Believe me, there are lots of places here that have adopted the American way of spelling..but it hasn't happened the other way round. Strange that, isn't it?! Many thanks for your support, it's much appreciated.

Cool, 37 hours is not too long. That is just under a standard work week here. When I was an employee, I worked 50 hours each week. Never doing that again!

Thanks for the support, it's very kind of you. As for the job itself I've just received an email telling me that it's 37 hours a week all year round as opposed to term-time, which I thought it was anyway lol. Needless to say, I have let them know I am still interested in the post.

Thank you so much for your response, it really means a lot to me. All I can do now is wait to see if I get an interview. The closing date is on the 26th Feb so it can't come soon enough for me!

Hi Janey! Your discussion caught my eye because the job you have applied for at a Special Needs School, is in Blackpool - that is where I used to live! Actually, we lived just down the road in St-Annes-on-Sea, but we emigrated to Australia many moons ago. My kids were all born in Blackpool and my brother lives there - he owns one of the many hotels there!
I just checked out the school's website and it looks an awesome place. I wish you luck, and hope you get the job, please keep us posted.

Oh wow, fancy you living in St Annes On Sea, it's posh there isn't it? Actually, it is a very nice place and I like it a lot. It's a small world isn't it my friend? I will definitely keep everyone posted if there are any developments regarding this job as it is somewhere that looks an awesome place to work. So much positivity, which is something I need at the moment!

Well I hope you get the job. Sometimes applying for a job can be quite a chore. My husband had to go through several interviews, and had to take a 4 hour exam to get the job that he has now. It makes me really scared to go back out in to the job market. That is one reason I hoping I can start earning enough money writing on line so I don't have to go back out in to the work force after all of my kids are in school full time which will be in the next year. I wish you lots of luck and I really hope you get it.

Hello there! Many thanks for your kind response, it is much appreciated and yes, you are right, it can be quite daunting applying for jobs these days, especially with a recession on. Your husband is one of the lucky ones and I am so pleased that he got a job after all that he had to go through in order to get it! I've had similar experiences and they're not very nice, believe me. Sometimes it's like being back at school and the people supervising the tests, etc are about 20 years younger. It doesn't seem fair somehow! I really hope I get the job too, I mean it's only for a year but if I can get my foot in the door, it usually leads to something else.
