This morning, I was watching some VH1 countdown show, When i saw Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Will Suck Without you" video. It got me thinking. ...Wheres Ruben Studdard? Fantasia Barrino? Carrie Underwood?
Granted, Carrie has had less time to get moving, but there's isn't much of an excuse for studdard and barrino. Clarkson has come out with hit after hit, comenting her place in mainstream music ( and she won in 2002, remember ?). I think i saw studdard's video once on BET. Same with Barrino. Once Clarkson, however, has been repeatedly pounded in to my brain. Even Clay Aiken has managed to get on my musical berves once or twice and he was flippin' runner up!
I think Clarkson's been the most successful out of all the idol's. It probably has to do wit the fact that she was the first and the freshest. The other one's seems like they were ready to take off into stardom and then got lost a little too early. Where did AI did go wrong?

Kelly is definitely the most successful Idol contestant with Carrie Underwood coming in close behind her. In terms of Album sales they are the top 2. In the United States actually, Carrie and Kelly are almost even in terms of sales, but because Carrie isn't really popular outside of the US and Kelly is huge, Kelly gets the push ahead of Carrie...It's a fact that most people don't consider and actually try to claim Carrie is the more successful one.

yes, i agree with you! kelly is indeed the most successful American idol winner so far. i havent heard of the other winners. i think jennifer hudson is also the second most popular among the american idol contestant/winner. well, that's from my opinion, though.

Where is Carrie Underwood? Wow - she has been doing a ton of stuff! I hear her all the time. She is a country singer, though, so seeing her on VH1 isn't going to happen much. I don't know who is doing better - Kelly or Carrie. Both are doing great.

I don't know if it AI at fault. It could be the public who got tired of them and or personally problems of the winners themselves. Carrie Underwood is a big star these days she is not by any means in the same boat has Ruben or Fantasia. I think its both Kelly and Carrie that are the biggest stars from AI. Also Jennifer Hudson not being the winner on AI is even bigger then all of them I think. With her music and her acting, and being an Oscar winner for Dream girls.

Yes same here. I think Kelly Clarkson is the most successful AI winner/contestant. I've been thinking about other idols as well like Ruben and Fantasia. I know Carrie is doing good. But I guess no one will beat Kelly's status right now she had proven a lot and she has staying power that every idol should posses. I love her! I think she is really likable person and her song never bores me.

I think Kelly Clarkson has a true love of music, and can sing anything. I have never really been a fan of Carrie Underwood. I thought she slaughtered the song at the Superbowl, I forget which one she did, Queen Latifah did the other. I think Daughtry has done pretty well for himself, as well as David Cook, Adam Lambert should do fine though he didn't win. Clarkson definitely has beat them all, but she has been doing it like nine years.
