Low Battery!

What do you do when your cell phone, computer, or other electronic device has low battery? Do you hurry to plug it in before it dies? Do you let it die and then plug it in? Do you let it die, leave it dead, and forget about it? Do you plug your device in way before it reaches low battery so you never let it get to that point? When your device is plugged in charging and you need to use it, do you unplug it while you use it or leave it plugged in? If you leave it unplugged while you're using it, do you ever forget to plug it back in? I have heard that it is best for electronic devices to be used until low battery and then charged up all the way. (I guess it's supposed to be really good for the battery to be drained and charged back up.) Have you heard differently? If so, please share your thoughts. Thanks for your response!

Well i don't hurry much, instead i use an extension which has more points where i can charge multiple items at a time.So that's why i don't face low battery problems often.

I do the same thing. I don't wait for my battery to die; I just charge either when or right before the low battery indicator comes on. I don't want it to die in the middle of whatever I may be doing!

hi jj4ever I do not have a battery charger so I have to either have a new battery on hand or horror of horrors run out and buy one. why does every body suppose we all have all the latest gadjets? some of us cannot afford to buy all the electronic gadgets that are available. I guess since I only have three things that need batteries I c an wait awhile before'buying a battery charger. he he he.

LOL - I guess that probably goes to show I have TOO MANY gadgets laying around that need to be charged! That's a high electric bill too. ha ha I probably should get rid of some of them so I can see that bill go down. Thanks for your response!

Hubby and I will usually put the phone on the charger when we think about it, whether it need it desperately or not. We do this so that we don't forget about it later. I have heard that low battery is the best time to charge, and not when the battery still has quite a bit of charge.

I waited until the battery capacity reaches 10%, then I plug in the charging. if the battery is empty so it's useless if I plug it. I'm striking up to eight hours when in use or not. Electronics very well if we have a clue how to treat it.

When i bought my cell phone they told me that i have to drain or empty the battery first before charging it so that the battery will last long. I follow the rules but sometimes i really need to use my cellular phone so i charged it when the low battery sign appears. I even leave it on while charging or even answer a call or a text message while charging.

It sounds like you take good care of your cell phone and battery. I really don't think you should have to let your battery/phone die completely before you can charge it again. I think it's fine for your battery to charge it when the "low battery" indicator comes on. That won't ruin your battery doing that. Hopefully your battery has lots of juice so it can go a long time between charges!

Yes, that is what people say. That it is best to wait until the battery is low before charging it. It does last longer that way. I don't have a cell phone or laptop, but I find my parents comical when it comes to their cell phones. My dad always has his charged, but my mom is forever forgetting to charge hers. And then when she does have it charged, she never turns it on, and my dad can't get a hold of her.

Hi, JJ4Ever. All, I know is that I plug my cell phone into the charger when the battery gets low. If I am out, I will just have to wait until I get home to charge my battery up. I will then turn my cell phone off. That is how I will usually do when I have a low battery.

Hello my friend it has been a long while since I saw you start a discussion on mylot and I was wondering if you were still around or not,and it is good to know you are still here, and when my cell phone battery is low,I will plug it in and charge it after I get home from work, and before me and my wife got a new phone we were able to charge it in the car if it is charging I will use it while it is plugged in because if I unplugged it I would probably forget to plug it back in,and I try not to let it get to the point where it will get low and try to die on me,and the laptop I am using is plugged into the wall,so I will not have to worry about it dieing on me,and most of the other electronics are plugged into the wall.

When something of mine has a low battery, I will either turn it off and save the last remaining bit of battery for when an emergency arises, or hurry to plug the device in and re-charge its power

Depending on what device you are referring to. For my cellphone wise, I will charge it as soon as I see it's not fully charged, especially when I am going out later, I need to ensure that I have a fully charged battery. I don't really use it when I am charging it though because it's quite difficult with the electrical cable limiting my moving distance. But for laptop wise, I will try to drain it's battery life before plugging in to charge because I heard that buy doing so, it can help to prevent the battery life from shortening that quickly. But during charging hours, I will still use my laptop.

It depends, If I was doing something important of course I would run to plug it in. If not I just let it die because I'm most likely too lazy to move and get the charger lol. When I need to use something that's charging I still do use it when it's plugged in. I have heard that letting a battery die and then charging it is better for the battery life, and that's what I normally do for my electronics.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets lazy sometimes when it comes to plugging things in! It depends on where I am and what mood I'm in as to whether or not I plug in something with low battery - LOL. I hate talking on my cell phone when it's plugged in because I can't move around. I almost ALWAYS pace around the room or house when I'm on the phone - ha ha. So having the cell plugged in when I'm talking forces me to sit in a chair and stay still. I don't like that! It also gets kind of hot when it's charging so I try to avoid that situation. My laptop lasts about two or three hours on full battery charge so that's really nice. My netbook/mini laptop lasts seven or eight hours on fully charged battery so that is even better. I only have to charge that once a week (like my cell phone) so I've already lost the charger by the time I need to charge my netbook again! I know that's pathetic, but that's how lazy I am. LOL Thanks for sharing!

It depends, if I'm outside or have to go somewhere then I'd be hurriedly charging it. Otherwise, I usually just let it die out all on its own. I was told few years back that the more and more you charge batteries, the lesser their lives would be. The proper way to use batteries is to wait till they'd turn off by themselves that's the time to recharge it.

I have an extra battery for my cellphone so whenever my phone has empty battery, then I change it with my other battery. Sometimes, I forget to bring my extra battery so I charge it to the nearest Mini-Stop outlet (a 24 hour convenience store in our country). It's true, it's better for the electronic device to be fully charged. It must also be fully empty before you charge it again.

I don't worry about my laptop's battery getting draines as it is always plugged in whenever I use it at home. With my cellphone I sometimes let the battery get drained or empty before I charge it but when I'm waiting for a very important message or call I charge it while I use it.

I would charge the battery as quikly as possible.under nomal circumtance,I would charge it before it die,I often unplug it while I use it. I think the battery should be charged before it die,as it harmful to one's health when it near die,in order to have a good health ,we should use it in a good way

Plug it and charge it while I'm still using it. Why? So the fun won't stop.
