Are you safe with just an Antivirus???

I think that mostly of the "viruses" on these days are those annoying trojans, and malwares out there on the Internet, but i have to say that you don't need just an Antivirus, you need to learn how to know what sites are safe and how you should surf the net, you have to be a little presumptuous with any message you see on your browser, i mean, you don't have to click over a "Congratulations you are the visitor 341243432432434.94 on this site, YOU WON!!!" Message. I think that's a big problem out there over the network.

Well, to be honest i did not use an antivirus for 5 years... and i never had any problem, i am using Opera browser, and i am really surfing every bad site on the internet, stuff like 4chan ... which is the internet hate machine itself, but i think Opera just blocks everything before going to the antivirus, althought the best antivirus atm is Nod32 it is made by russians and it updates every day.

The Opera browser does come under attack from hackers. The good thing is due to the tight programming the Opera team is quick to fix any security holes. So far they are the fastest team compared to other teams. This is one of the reasons I have gone back to Opera. I use an Internet Security suite which so far works fine.

It beats getting your screwed in less than 6 years. Yes my friend my computer withstand it for more or less than 6 years with anti-viruses. I'm not saying they are safe but technology won't last forever. At least there still some protection for computers. It is now your choice if you ever caught on some malware whether you know the site or not. If you are not into anti-viruses then try deep freeze. Maybe it would work for you.

Just like the head and tail of the coin cannot be separated, the boons and banes of the internet cannot be separated. The internet is an abode of many wonderful sites and information, but these worms and trojans pull everything off!

Viruses a great deal of threat these days.Hence the antivirus programs are really helpful. But viruses are not the only threat which we face today.Trojans,Malwares all affect the computer and we could lose our personal data to the author of those malicious programs.Maybe some antivirus can detect them and stop them but what about phishing? You get a mail saying you have won a lottery worth a huge sum so in order to process you need to send a small sum of money. And many people fall for it. Even the internet banking sites. The users enter the username and the password assuming that it the genuine bank site as it looks the same as the genuine one including the web address. But in actual, the web address will be different by a single letter or so,but it's human behavior that when we see a sequence of letters almost in the correct word our mind interprets it as the word without giving it a second look. What is needed is a basic knowledge of the usage of internet banking and be aware of the fraudulent cases which have been happening in the world. Maybe then the person becomes more careful before entering such sensitive data.

I think you right in that particular thinking, my friend. Because most of the antivirus created is a virus itself...They are doing this to make money because this is a business... If they can't do that I think no updated software of anti-virus...

An absolute truth!.most of the sites attract people by saying they won something or tempt them to open their malicious link.Antivirus programs may not be a complete solution but yet some antiviruses like kaspersky, mcafee have their site advisor features.this might be of some help too.And one important message everyone has to bear in mind is that, no one gets anything for free.work pays.so however trustworthy any site may be just believe in this thought and keep away from these kind of links.
