What would it be? If you already play one or more, pick a different one that you don't play. Why do you want to play this instrument? Is it something you've always wanted to do, or only a recent or passing interest? What's stopping you from learning to play the instrument?
I currently play violin, viola, piano, and have also played trombone and percussion in the past. If I could pick another instrument to play, though, it would be the cello. I'm not sure when I decided that I loved the sound of a cello so much. I think that it has a very deep and passionate sound. What's stopping me from learning the cello is that I don't have and can't afford to buy a cello.

I would love to play the guitar, drums, the piano, I wouldn't mind learning to play the sax either. I have wanted to play guitar since I was probably about 7 or 8, I have just never actually learned. I can play the flute, but there ends my musical abilities.

The irony of it is I didn't want to learn to play the flute. When I was in the 7th grade I was put in what was called beginner band the flute I think was the only instrument I didn't want to play. I was the only one who could get it to make a sound. I have since learned to respect it and actually enjoy it. They are not cheap took my parents awhile to pay off my flute which was bought new, and I already need to either get a new one or have mine repaired due to stupidity. Takes awhile to get the hang of I used to get light headed when I first started playing and my arms would get tired, but eventually I got used to it and now it doesn't bother me.

I tried to learn guitar and failed- I think it's because the violin doesn't have frets, and I just couldn't get used to them! I agree that the piano is very soothing. Violin is my primary instrument and I love it very much, but it used to be that whenever I was worked up emotionally, whether really happy or said or angry, I found the piano to be a very effective release. There's something about the feeling of the keys under your fingers and the way you put weight on them. I miss having a piano very much.

It does take a lot of effort! I started playing the violin when I was four years old. I can't remember if I had any trouble with the strings hurting then. It takes a while of consistent playing for calluses to build up on your fingertips, and then it doesn't hurt anymore.
