A Question About iPod Docking Stations.

I am thinking about getting an iPod Touch, or possibly an iPhone. Recently at a party my Aunt provided the music with a traditional iPod in a docking station that looked like a little stereo. My question is, if I got an iPhone or iPod Touch, would I be able to use the exact same type of docking station, or do I need a special docking station for iPhones and iPod Touches?

car - car with nice decals on the side
iPod docking is working for iPod and iPhone. It is very convenient to use all apple technology all together. Same with headphones and car charger. I am still looking into the universal charger for all different type of computers, cellphones and other technology charging needs.

I think my iPhone would fit on the Bose docking station/speakers if I were to try it, until you get down to the newer pods and minis that you get into different kinds of power supply docks
