Do you drink cold water when you wake up in the morning?

I learned that it is good to drink a glass of water with a few drops of lemon first thing in the morning to keep your digestive tract alkaline and to flush the toxins out. I want to do it every morning for health reasons but I enjoy hot coffee or chocolate over cold water. What about you?

ya i used to drink cold water when i get up in the morning especially in the summer . during the summer i will drink cold water all the time and in the morning too i will drink cold water only . i feel that my thirst will be over only if i drink cold water . but i dont drink more oftenly in the morning if its not summer .

No i don't drink cold water when i wake up in the morning. More over i don't take any tea or coffee.
I drink normal water.

Yes, it's good to drink cold or regular water first thing in the morning. Good for your stomach and intestines. Tea and coffee are not a must anyway but they are stimulants to jump start your metabolism.

I don't do this. I wanted to say that I would not think it would matter what time of day it was, as long as it was before your first meal, or perhaps even with your first meal. Drinking cold water is supposed to awaken your metabolism anyway, and they say drinking water with meals help you to feel full faster so you don't eat as much.

Yes, I drink a glass of cold water with lemon because it feels refreshing especially on a summer morning. Furthermore, it stumulates the gastrocolic reflex - it's presence in the stomach makes the colon move and enable me to do my bathroom routine regularly.
Water, with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and honey (or brown sugar) is something I prefer when I feel that I need to shed off extra pounds. I do this not only upon waking up, but several times a day and eat a slice of pineapple or banana for snacks.

hi! yes, I drink cold water straight from the tap, when I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and I do it every morning, because I like to drink water :)

Well and good. Continue what you're doing, that's healthy. Much better if you add a few drop of lemon to make it alkaline.

Well I don't blame you for wanting the hot chocolate ofr the coffee it is winter time and you want warmth. Instead of drinking the cold water with lemon try hot water or even an herbal tea with the lemon and add some ginger or cinnamon. But yes it will remove toxins. But by drinking the water hot you will be melting down sludge versus solidifying the crap. Cold hardens, hot melts. Hope this helps. I drink my hot water in the evening.

I tend to drink a glass of water or diluted cordial first thing in the morning, mainly to cut through the gunk in my mouth as I tend to sleep with my mouth open!
I do drink mostly cold drinks though, with the odd cup of tea or coffee now and then.

Every person has its own thing really. Others do certain things that others don't like to do. Like me for example, even if I know that water with a few drops of lemon is good for the body, I still go for hot coffee, tea or chocolate first thing in the morning to jump start my metabolism after gargling of course.

The one I heard to have the same effect is a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon, followed by a glass of cold water. It's quite refreshing first thing in the day, but I'd still prefer tea or coffee!

Ahh.. that's new to me, but I think it's just have the same effect. Like me, I enjoy hot tea or hot coffee first thing in the morning. I always forget to drink water as I wake up although I know pretty much that water is good and healthier.

I had never heard this before! Usually the first thing I drink in the morning is coffee. I typically have coffee with my breakfast. Later in the morning then I will drink water and pretty much throughout the rest of the day. I will have to try this though and see if it helps! Thanks for sharing.

I suggest that you try it and if possible do it every morning to keep your body alkaline. You know, bacteria can't live long in an alkaline environment.

Yes its true i'm doing the same thing ..I used to drink water when i wake up in the morning after brushing my teeth i will drink at least 2 glasses of water with a few drops of lemon juice or a piece of lemon over it.It can help to eliminate toxins out of the body or otherwise i will use apple cider vinegar few drops of it into my glass of water as a substitute of lemon.It has the same effect with lemon.

Yeah, cold water all day to refresh ourselves is good. You must be healthy!!! You see, about 90% of our body is water. I just read it in one of the books. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Water is good for you at any time of day. I'm not at all convinced that lemon juice will make your digestive tract alkaline - for a start, it's an acid, and for another thing, it's going to pass through your stomach and all its digestive juices which are acidic themselves. It certainly won't do you any harm, but the claims you're following seem very dubious.
I think I'd prefer the more tasty stuff, although keeping away from caffeine if you can will only do you good.

Yes, there's no argument that water is good for us at any time of the day. I just got information from a medical researcher for over 25 years that water with a few drops of lemon is alkaline and best taken when you get up from sleep. This is not a prescription but only an information. I, myself, is a coffee lover.

In the morning, I prefer drinking water from the water dispenser which is neither hot nor cold. Just right.
