Have you ever gone out for a meal and gotten the space cadet from hell? You know the one that is never around. She comes to the table very fast to take your order, she is very nice and pleasant, but after she takes your order you never see her again? Someone else brought out your food, you tell who ever walks by that you could use some more drinks, or that you need ketchup or steak sauce, but you aren't telling the one that took your order and and the one that expects to receive a tip from you. You see the girl when you have finished your meal and she appears out of nowhere to see if you need dessert menus or would you like the check.

A lot of people don't think of how the job really is. It can be a very busy job. Also, if your a kind of shy person you want to stay away as much as possible. Sometimes it's better to stay away and not hassle the customer as well. I know that I always went to the table a few times but tried not to bother the customer too much. I'd gotten a few people who weren't very nice when I did bother them, so from hence forth I only bothered those who were friendly to talk to.

ahha so I see what you are saying if people are grouchy when you approach them or they yell at you for something you stay away because they tend to make you a little nervous. I see. well that makes sense, but try to overcome the fear of the bad moody. Try to look them in the eye when they are mean, smile right in there face. and asked them if you caused their bad mood? And what can I do to put a smile back on that lovely face Your Mama gave you.

I am no longer a waitress, and it never really made me nervous when a customer was upset at me. It did make me upset, but I usually blew it off later as nothing. People will have bad days after all.

I had been a waitress for several years. They can get extremely busy especially if everyone comes in to eat at the same time. I have two incidences that has happened to me as a customer. The waitress seated us and then totally forgot about us. We left about 20 minutes later. My favorite is the time the waitress seated us, got our food, brought us our ticket, gave us our change and then offered me a refill,(not in a to go cup) just my first refill.
