How do you get over your fears? Im not entirely sure if i'll ever overcome my arachnophobia, but what can you suggest? What fear have you overcome? How did you do it?

they say that people who are afraid of spiders are not afraid of mice and vice versa. Arachnophobia, let me tell you a story. I once was terrified of the creatures as well. Then one night, as I was reading in bed, all of a sudden... this enormous big black spider was moving about the place. For a while I was frozen stiff with fear. I then decided to jump to another bedroom and leave on the lights in bedroom, the door open, in the hope that the spider would eventually go into the hallway. As i was tucked under the blankets in the other bedroom, darn, I saw that the door did not entirely come to the floor, there was an inch or so of space, so imagine what I was imagining. I could not sleep. In the end, I got up, and with all my courage went back to my own bedroom. And there he was. The big black spider. Then, a miracle happened. I noticed that he was more frightened of me than I was of him. I have never been frightened of spiders after that, and this took place well over 20 years ago.

I am deathly afraid of two things, needles and spiders. I am not worried about ever being cured from my arachnophobia, the needles I would like to get over. Depending how severe your phobia is and how dramatically it is impacting your life would depend on any suggestions I would have. If your arachnophobia is severe enough to make your life more difficult, then I would recommend seeking professional help. What a psychologist would do is slowly work with you and slowly ease you into actually being able to be around spides, and then be able to hold one and things of that nature...it is a process that can take a long time to complete. Personally, when it comes to spiders..I say RUN THE OTHER WAY! hahaha j/k

I was afraid of heights before yet i conquered my fear by immersing myself to great heights ie. from 20 to 50 ft above the ground. it was like being electrified but as the days wore on i came to master my balance and could walk up and down the tall tree without sensing any fear. too bad that tree that helped me reduce my fear of heights had been brought down by chainsaw and turned to charcoal.
