There was a short dog in my home before. One day ,It went out for walking. When it wanted to cross a raceway ,but it was unsuccessful and fell in the raceway. It didn't climb out and you would think what happened to it :it was drowned! It is said that the dog can swim, but my dog was drowned!

I'm not sure what a raceway is so it's kind of hard for me to picture this. Could the dog have gotten hurt when falling in and not be able to swim. Are the sides high? Maybe he was exhausted from trying to get out. I guess many things could have happened, perhaps your dog panicked? Regardless I am sorry for your loss.

The raceway is very narrow ,it is like a wading pool!

It can happen several ways, this is the most probable. Dogs can swim and float. If they dive in under water and are not used to the surprise of the water hitting their face and mouth they will swallow the water. Some dogs hold their breathe by instinct others HAVe to be tought.A tragic acceddent....

Dog swimming - Dog swimming to shore after it has picked up a stick thrown in the water
Well, most dogs do, but some struggle a bit. My cousin had a Boston terrier that really loved the water, but he couldn't turn and sometimes he just dropped down below the water so they had to pull him out before he drowned.

Of course dogs swim, It's part of their natural talent. They are born having that kind of talent, its part of their nature. And about the dog you just said, there could be a lot of reasons why it drowned. It could have leg problems that stopped him from swimming, or probably the dog panicked and just was so tired in trying to swim and climb back up.
