Relationship Status: IT'S COMPLICATED!

Hello!
Have you notice the Facebook's trademark status category "IT'S COMPLICATED". I was amused and amazed at the same time to learn that such has been recognized universally perhaps and already accepted to describe ones relationship when one could not determine and caught between being single and being in a relationship....
If you are not with somebody, automatically you're single. If you're with someone, your either in a relationship or married. We often wonder about what complicated would mean.
For you, what does it mean about "it's complicated" status?

Well, here's an example from my own life: a few years ago my ex-husband and I got back together, it lasted a little less than two years. For awhile he lived with me but then I felt it wasn't really working and asked him to move out. However, I wasn't quite ready to give him up and so we stayed involved for almost another year, until I realized that I couldn't see myself married to him again and it wouldn't be fair to continue the current arrangement, as he was pressuring me to let him move back in or remarry. During part of this time he was also still in contact with his former girlfriend, I'm not sure to what extent, but he started dating her the day after I broke it off for good, so take that for whatever it's worth!
Now, that is what I would call complicated and if I had been on Facebook at the time that is probably how I would have described it.

Thank you! It's all good. He's still with his girlfriend and I'm waiting patiently for the right man to come along!

hi kdfmay, when you say its complicated you dont want to reveal your status, you are a single parent or you have problems in your lovelife..
Other would just choose th option for the sake of intriguing ones personal life...
But as what I have notice, most people uses it are the ones who are looking
really for someone..LOL.

hi kdfmay might not be true for you but for some might worked and true, I have a friend who puts his status as complicated even if he is on a relationship.
when he broke up with her boyfriend she still stick with the complicated status. this for the boys to ask about her relationship..
just my opinion and thought of observation..

actually i also put mine as complicated knowing that im into a relationship with someone while im pregnant with another man
. i put it there so that every one will know that my love life is not ok. besides my family and friends already know my situation so its ok and no one dare to ask question.

So far you don't need attention from your female friends right now... you are satisfied with your relationship status. :)
You know, to be honest, if my relationship status is not that good or let say complicated... I still not use that option, I'd rather leave it blank. I don't want others to be curious about it. I don't want to broadcast... "hey, my life is complicated or my relationship is complicated." I really don't like to gain attention to my complicated life. I thinks there's nothing wrong with that, isn't?

I think about the same thing when ever I see it in facebook. What can you been by its complicated, I am still amazed that the creators of facebook can put such a status on their website. I feel it just a way to make everyone curious about your relationship. Its a status for attention seekers .
