The horror movies that have scared me the most are:
1. The Grudge (and also Ju-on, the Japanese version)
2. The Ring (and Ringu, also Japanese)
There are a few other horror movies that have scared me a little, but nothing quite as notable as these two comes to mind. When I first saw The Grudge, my bedroom was in the attic of my house and it made me scared to sleep in my own room. Plus my boyfriend at the time thought it was funny to call me on the phone at night and make that weird throat sound that the girl in the movie made.

I think alot of what is "scariest" has to do with when you viewed the movie. For me, Salem's Lot scared the crap out fo me, but I was only like 8 when I saw it. No other movie has had the effect that it had on me. I could see that vampire in the dark for along time after I saw the movie. Haven't really seen another movie that had that effect on me, but I do like the modern horror movies and the way their produced, like the grudge and the ring, etc... theyre just creepy.

As much as I thought the flicks you mentioned were good movies they werent scarey to me..MIND YOU I've yet to think of a horror flick (and its my fav genre) that has really scared me...especially the ones that have come out over the past several yrs...In fact I think that horror movies are extremely tame these days which is a shame really
