I had to laugh when I saw the story about inmates in Florida who scammed the IRS out of almost 1 million dollars. The inmates and their family members would be file the short form (1040EZ) and then attach a 4852, which is the form you submit when your employer has not provided a W-2. They fabricated earnings and the amount withheld to get huge refunds. Most of the individual refunds averaged around $5000 a piece. I am amused that the IRS was outwitted by criminals so easily. And here us working folks are trying to be truthful and decent when we file our own taxes, barely getting anything back at all!
