Starving?! ALL. DAY. LONG!?

Have you all ever had a day (or two or three) when you just find you are STARVING all day long? I admit, I try to start out being wise and eating healthy, for instance I might have some fruit and oatmeal or cereal and then a handful of nuts and some string cheese, coffee, a bottle of water etc. The problem is, I end up moving onto bigger and better, like if I'm still hungry, I'll scramble up a few eggs and then toast an english muffin and top the muffin with some mayo, the eggs, and cheese. What if I'm still hungry? Then I dig in the fridge, find the strawberries, eat half of those. 30 minutes later I'm getting into the pantry and finding doritos. Then I open up a bottle of diet coke. An hour later, I'm thinking I want some lunch, so I try to be healthy again and I go microwave a lean cuisine. When that's gone, I dig into the fridge and make a salad, with romaine, tomato, avocado, peppers, cheese, turkey, and low fat ranch. Big salad, you bet. But then I'm still hungry.... so I make a can of soup. Then I dig in the fruit bowl and find an orange... and make a bag of popcorn. Do you have days like this? Honestly, it's not like it causes me to gain 10 lbs or anything but it is almost frightening, I mean I feel like I can't get full. I don't know what it is. And if I give in to my cravings and actually eat ice cream and cookies and chocolate and chips or I get burritos or fried chicken or cheeseburgers or something, then I not only STILL am hungry, then I feel like crap because I ate 3 lbs of fast food lol. Please tell me this happens to you as well and I'm not just a mutant lol!

If you're a mutant, then that makes me one too - ha ha! Yes, I've been like that ever since my teen years! I have a very high metabolism. I'm small and people don't know where I pack it in . . . I admit I can be a little piggie and luckily, do not gain much weight from it all. At the same time, perhaps it's not necessarily a good thing. When I got pregnant, I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and even though the condition is now gone after having my baby, I am considered pre-diabetic for the rest of my life. I wonder if this came about as I have eaten too many carbs in the past 20 years ... hmmmmm - although they say it's a genetic thing. I have learned that eating a bit of protein helps greatly - particularly with breakfast (the morning meal) as it "sticks" in your stomach longer. But, I'll admit, I can still eat all day if I allow myself to . . . it's just these days I try to make healthier choices in my snacks (though it's not always easy to do!).

Hehe.... I USED to have a GREAT metabolism. After I hit 30, something happened to it. I keep things balanced usually by working out but I have been kinda lazy in the last few weeks. I only have days like that once in awhile. Today I seem to be fine. I was suffering lingering effects of it yesterday, I started the morning with two giant cups of coffee (some people would call my one cup about 4 normal cups, so what does that make it, EIGHT cups I had?) a huge slice of cinnamon sugar pudding bread, and an orange, then for lunch I went to Chilis with friends for my daughter's friend's birthday. Again I thought I'd be good there too by getting a soup and salad lunch. My downfall was the huge platter of hot tortilla chips and salsa lol. I topped it off later by eating most of the remainder of the chips and salsa while waiting for my hubby to get home, after which I made a huge lasagna and ate too much of THAT too. Of course today I am not even hungry so maybe my rampaging and pillaging for food is over with for the moment. I'm small too, I must have a hollow leg . I really just try to balance. If I go overboard for a few days, I try to make sure that I eat normally and exercise to combat any negative effects of going overboard. I don't prevent myself from giving in to the cravings as long as they are not consistent cravings, like if I wanted to eat a pint of ice cream daily, that would not be acceptable, but once in two weeks I felt like a pint of ice cream, I would probably have it. I LOVE carbs! One of my friends is on Atkins and it seems to be working for her but I'm not sure I could do that. Most fruits have carbs and even a lot of veggies have carbs, and I know me, I can eat LESS pasta, rice, potatoes or bread but I can't eat NONE. Same with fruit. I can't imagine not just grabbing a piece of fruit. In my world, fruit is healthier than grabbing cheese, eggs, or bacon but hey..... it all depends what the benchmark is lol.

There's usually some kind of trigger to this type of thing. I do the same but usually when I'm stressing about something...or worried. I worry about everything...even things that never happen. The more I stress or worry the more I eat and then I feel guilty for eating so I eat more. It's finding a way to break the pattern. A couple of ways to help yourself feel full is drinking water and chewing sugarfree gum. Also say you eat, like you said, a bowl of cereal. Make a goal of not eating anything for at least 30-45 minutes...give your body time to digest the cereal. Also go do something for that time...most times you'll forget about wanting to eat again. Hope it helps. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

It never happen to me but i starve myself when i am angry or just have a quarrel that i would not like to eat but the feeling of eating all days as in starving i have nit experience it yet and maybe if i get pregnant i would eat like a pig. I think it is a bad thing to eat when your stomach already feel full . In my case ever i wish to eat a lot but my stomach could not handle it even mixing food it only makes me go to the comfort room most of the times as my body metabolism is so fast and so is the way my food goes in to my digestive system so moderation is the key for me as long as i never eat full or too little it is still basically alright for me.

sometime i do. coz i wake up 1 or 3pm everyday since i sleep late at night nd so i wake up starving. then when i check around theres no more food and worst is i run out of money. i have no choice but to call my mother to send me money, sometimes my ex is kind enough, he ordered me food online since his in London. though it takes time to deliver but at least i still able to eat. i experience to eat only once a day. and more of water since they said. people will not die for a week without food as long as they will drink water lol

I think ur urge to eat periodically every hr comes from being bored or just wanting to feel something in ur stomach. U shouldn't be starving , what with the way u eat. I eat like u sometimes, when Im on the computer and just want to feel that full feeling.

Years back, mom and I would fast during Good Friday and eat nothing the whole day except at nighttime. Boy, was it tough! Good thing that at her age of 63, she can no longer do that anymore. We just refrain from eating meat at that day.

Recently I had to do eight hours without eating or drinking anything in order to do a blood test. i found it difficult but I could manage it. Recently I had to do away with meat on the beginning of Lent. It was hard not to have ham in sandwiches. Anyway doing some personal scarifies does us good not only to our belly but to our spiritual being as well.

You're not the only one and it seems I'm hungry ALL the time. I never eat big meals to avoid getting that groggy feeling (like one does after a holiday type meal)--so I nosh here, nosh there, even right up to bedtime. Thankfully it doesn't make me gain weight. In fact that used to be the joke in the family that my grandmother and mother could gain weight just by looking at food, while my father's side of the family could eat a whole cow at every meal and not gain weight, so I obviously take that trait...LOL. I don't eat fast foods though or foods that might be considered junk foods though..uh, okay maybe I sneak in some chocolates now and then

If I'm dieting it happens a lot. But I've found I have fewer cravings since I got off of diet drinks.

Yeah, I feel that way all the time. Usually I'm not actually hungry, I make a point to eat before I get hungry, or eat at the first sign of hunger. But if I want to eat half an hour after a meal, that usually means I have the munchies, but I am not actually hungry. I spend awhile trying to fight it off, reminding myself that I don't need food... I just have the desire to eat. If that doesn't work I'll make a cup of coffee, oddly enough it tends to eliminate cravings for me most of the time. Keeping busy and getting my mind off food helps too. Watching TV doesn't help at all, every food commercial I see makes me want to eat more! So I'll get up and do some exercises, or play Dance Dance Revolution or Wii Fit or something, that usually helps. Of course I do have days where I give in too... we're only human. As long as those days don't happen too often.

Hey mommyboo! Where do you put all this food! You are such a tiny little person!lol I get like that at night because I am the opposite of most normal person as it is and am a night eater! I can eat all night like you describe! I don't eat so much during the day! Actually, I can go all day without eating a thing unless I am out shopping and doing errand and the I will have lunch out! Otherwise, I will not eat sometimes a morsal of food until sometimes 9-10pm! But, once I start sometimes I will get up and eat all night long, just as you describe! I will eat dinner at 9-10pm and then continue throughout the night! And then I can't stop myself! I can eat another whole dinner! And then I want something sweet and it just keeps going on, but I DO GAIN WEIGHT! That is the problem! Eating late at night (or in my case early in the AM) is the worst! The other night I ate my Paprika Chicken that was supposed to be for the next nights dinner! I just sat in my kitchen eating it cold! I just couldn't stop myself and I had already had a full dinner! It was about 3AM! So, you think you have problems? I don't think so!lol

hi! First of all, i don't think starving is wise and means healthy, because starving is so dangerous for our life as being crowded. When we starve our organism knows it and detects that there is no food during the day, and it starts to gather all the energy supplies so that it can survive. and there are some realle unhealthy processes in our body during the starvation. Well, i have done it too, but not because I wanted it, but because I was at the university and I hadn't no money with me, and i felt ashamed to ask some of my colleagues, because I still didn't knew them so far, and i prefer to stay hungry till i get home at 19:00 :)
