How many kids have been watched in the privacy of their bedrooms?
That's a lot of laptops. I'm not saying I condone the action; that laptop was NOT on the school network at the time it was monitored, and we are dealing with students who are not of legal age, so there may be other considerations involved here. It was however, school property. See the story below.

I personally think it was not such a good idea. Kids should be kids. We are talking about their private lives here. Even their lives might be jeopardize. I have seen kids in Oprah telling their horrific stories and experience with the net. Therefor I say no no to kids with laptops. Poor kids did not even know they were watched.

I dont think its a very good idea to get kids laptops especially if they have to bring it to school. I think that if parent would allow this then the tendency is that the kids will not be able to focus on the things that they need to do at school especially they can do so many things with a laptop and if there is a wireless connection around. Its okay for kids to have it as long he is responsible enough to manage his time wisely and in the use of laptops.

I think that it's definitely wrong for them to be monitored. Now the news story I read made it seem as if the kids and parents didn't even know the laptops would be monitored the way they were. I think that the school should have to reissue laptops that have been thoroughly checked to make sure that no devices are on the machine other then those absolutely necessary. If the kid loses a laptop or it gets stolen then the case should be made like that. Depending on the circumstances will determine who pays.

I think the school trying to monitor kids while they are out of school is just wrong. It is terrible how schools are trying to act Big Brother-like and keep track of everything a student does even while at home. I mean imagine if for every time you got grounded at home the school also gave you detention, it would make you angry that the school had no bearing in the matter, but felt it needed to act.

I wouldn't enjoy getting monitored. So no ,I don't think this should be condoned.
Privacy is a right. I wouldn't want people to know what I'm doing all the time because I may be doing somethings that I wouldn't do in full view of the public.
