Commercials getting louder?

I have now reverted to muting the TV when the commercials come on. Recently it just seems like the decibel level goes up when the main program breaks. Anyone else noticed that? Ive chalked it up to they do that because people get up and usually walk into a different room to get something(IE: beverage, food, restroom) and you'll still be able to hear their ad even if your in a different room. Or maybe its just my TV?

Wow, I thought I was the only one who noticed. I have notice this for over a year now, but it probably has been going on a lot longer.
What really worries me is what else are they (media)doing to get our attention or even control our minds.
Yes we have the mute button, volume control or better yet the off button, but no matter where we go... there they are.

Hello Bluru, Welcome to Mylot!!
Nope, its not your tv, its for real, they blast off the commercials, so much so that Im sitting with the remote in my hand and I know when a commercial will be on and I mute it. So they're losing as now we dont even listen to them anymore. Not a very wise move on their parts if you ask me.

It's not just your TV. Many stations do air the commercials at a higher decibel level than the shows. There are people who are actually trying to get a bill signed into US law that would prohibit TV stations from airing commercials any more than a set number of decibels above the volume of the show the commercials are in. So maybe this problem will be fixed soon. The funny thing is, I don't even have TV so I watch all my shows on Hulu, and the commercials there are sometimes louder too!

No its not just your TV its all TV's and it is so ignoring. I mute the TV because first of all I'm not interested in watching commercials and second because its just way to loud. They do this to grab our attention they just don't realize its not working. I have heard countless people who just mute the TV when commercials go on. I don't understand how the people who work in this industrial has not gotten the message after all these years.
