Hi All,
Hoping you guys are doing fine. Care to share the most nerve-wrecking paranormal story/stories you have ever heard or encountered? For me, it would have to be stories on the road by motorists and drivers. The ones taking a 'ride' at their back-seats, the cab drivers being harassed into taking a customer that doesn't exist, the 'ghost rider' that seeks a race with a human rider and many more. What are yours to share?
Disclaimer: Do share what you have to say on this discussion, irregardless whether you believe in the paranormal or not. I believe there are no right or wrong answers, and no proofs on the stories either, so it's up to your discretion. Let's read them and bring out your thoughts. Pure discussion without any malicious intent. Thanks, folks..

hi Zed,i never had any personal experience with them and either would i believe in their existence---our mind does many things when we think about strange things ----starting from fear to halucinations.Apart from these i'm a big fan of horror movies and i enjoy watching them.In my school days we had to pass by a library to reach the school---one of my friends was really good in creating rumours---he has created a nice story---Seems One women was raped and then buried in the back yard of the library---An old House, dry leaves and big trees make it more appealing--all my mates never took that road---yeah including me)

Hiya bro, thanks for coming. I never take much heed too, in what others say, but just like you, I have this tiny inclination whenever someone mentions a place and I would think twice about passing through... There's just something about rumors that spike me sometimes, especially tales of the paranormal. The imagination can really run wild at times, no kidding..

Heehee, naughty ah you bro.. this avatar will be changed yet again. I want to be a racing car once more harhar...
By the way, you are right.. these infamous haunting tales can get on our nervous nerves for nothing. True that ghosts are there, in another dimension and all that, we don't have to always surround ourselves with scary tales.. not too healthy in the long run, I think personally. But if just listening for entertainment, I think should be ok hor..

Haha, bro.. yes.. it's a mix and match from Incredible Tales and other stories that I've heard or watched before. Pretty wondrous for me.. but I really don't want to see nor hear any in real life, LOL. Same like you too, I don't want to experience it for myself as well. I'm also familiar with the tale you mentioned there. It seems to happen a lot in our country, I suppose? Hmmm..

Hi Doll,
I have had a number of unexplainable
episodes throughout my lifetime...
The most recent was a couple of years ago.
I was in the storeroom trying to clear it out.
I came across some old family photoes in an old candy box
I stood there wishing I had a pic of my great aunt Raydene whom I'm named after.
I had the door shut...out of the corner of my eye I saw movement near the door.
I looked at a young woman with a long skirt and a oversized white
blouce with a sailor collar intently staring at me..she was holding a large brim
straw sun hat in her hand down by her side..
I shook my head, blinked and she was gone..I've not seen her since.
I believe I was blessed with a look at my aunt.
I believe there are many things that exist that we do not see unless
we are open to all relms.

this happened several years ago...
we just had dinner, my aunt, my 2 siblings and myself. we were talking about... paranormal activities. pretty ironic. my aunt was sharing her experiences in haunted hotels she stayed in before. (that... can be another story to tell and was so so scary at the time.) the 4 of us were seated in a way that two will be facing each other. i was across from my aunt. then a moment of silence passed. while my sisters were busy recalling an incident, they both failed to see one of the plates move from one end to the other end... in the middle of the table... while all the rest of the plates remained where they were. i immediately looked at my aunt in front of me... afraid to say i saw it moved but she beat me to it and asked me if i saw it too. and i knew it wasnt just imagination. it gave me the creeps and my sisters asked me what happened. what is more creepy was when my aunt told me... "well, you were lucky. you didn't see the ones who moved the plate."
my aunt believed she has the third eye. and she thinks i have one too, i was just not ready to accept the fact or to embrace the idea. sometimes i see things in a picture that isn't there or have weird dreams... but those are rare now since my aunt passed away.
my first freaky experience was probably when i was 5. too young to understand but nevertheless i could not forget. i was taking an afternoon nap on the make-shift bed on the floors near the veranda... a good 20 feet away from the bedroom door near the stairs. in my dream, a piercing cold caught hold of my left ankle. it was a firm grip that encircled my ankle. then i felt i was being pulled, by the ankle. i wanted to wake up so bad i had to jerk my foot. one of my feet got caught in the stairs railings while my other foot is already on the stairs... along with half of me. that's when i woke up. i'm not a restless sleeper so i knew i couldn't move the 20 feet by myself. had i not woken up in time, i could have fallen down the stairs. the only reminder of that incident was the strange burn on my left ankle. luckily the scar had long since faded.

not necessarily bad dreams. but when i dream it is always very vivid. like i was really there and experiencing it. some pretty intense... they felt so real.
before, i dreamt of my ex-bf in the hospital. it was around 10:30pm. he was alone though, in the dream. and he was ok. the next morning i called him up. (we had kept in touch even if we were no longer together back then.) i told him about the dream. and he almost freaked out. he asked me how the hell i knew he was in the hospital the night before when he didn't tell anyone about it... even his family. he wanted to spare them the worry when his chest hurt and he had it checked in the nearest hospital ER that night.
there were several like that... this one is pretty light compared to others.
i refuse to see anything besides the good in people. this is the reason why my aunt and another person claiming to have the 3rd eye... both say that mine is not opened yet because i refuse to embrace the idea. i may have what they call a half-opened gift. hehe though sometimes it is kind of a curse to see things beyond what it is.
i sometimes freak out myself... when one person, a stranger... who heard my story, dared me to look at a picture of his friend... just to test me. i gave in. i have a thing about dares. hehehe
he showed me a 2"x2" picture of a woman, white background for id purpose. i told him what i saw. a 5 yr old child, soft voice... nice but can't sing, quiet personality but firm and nice to people, then i saw a store beyond her face. (imagine that it was supposedly blank background.)
i learned that the lady is a single mom with a child about 4 and 11 months old (having the 5th birthday that month), and she's a saleslady at a local mall. all the rest were pretty accurate. how freaky can that be...

Hello myles. Thanks for telling about your personal stories there. That must have been a nerve-wrecking experience for you, when you were 5. And the moving plates too. Like your late aunt had said, luckily you didn't see the thing that moved the plate. That was really a freaky incident. I think the third eye is something that not everybody would have. Some people do have this instinct or 6th sense etc. That's really mysterious and no one knows the real deal.. thanks for sharing this myles. Do you have bad dreams too sometimes?

I don't watch TV much any more but I used to have a dear friend who enjoyed the Psychic Detectives show and so we used to watch it together sometimes. I think the scariest episode on that series was about a woman who could replay in her head the details of a murder. I have never had a paranormal event involving a violent stranger. I think that would be quite unsettling.

Thanks, drannhh, you're the first one to arrive. Awesome..
Psychic Detectives..let's see whether there are any on youtube that I could watch for a bit, especially on this episode that you've mentioned. That can be truly nerve-wrecking, to be able to recall details of a murder, I wouldn't want that for myself too..

Hi drannhh, I think psychic is a person who notices just a bit more than others! There was this experiment - in which they showed that our mind records just a few things of what is happening before us. In psychics, they record more things. Therefore, their mind gets to extrapolate more possibilities. That is all. Can we all be psychics? Of course! But we need to train for that from very childhood. Problem is we cant be children again.

Hi, vandana7. You have never heard of a second childhood? I am perhaps on my third, but I did miss the first one. Well! Of course we can all be psychics, at least most of us. I don't think as children we need training, although probably it helps. As children we can do all sorts of things until someone tells us it is not "natural" and makes us stop. But I think we can start training at any time. Some people are frightened by this possibility, so maybe they should leave it alone.

I heard a lot of stories the same things with what you mention but hopefully i had not encounter anything about it So far i would like to experience it one of these days but it is still far away except if I plan to travel in unknown places or if i ever i would try to live even one night in a haunted house, surely i would not miss those paranormal things. How about you, Zed, have you ever experience one of those things? Since, I heard a lot which other claim as true while other debate it is just mind boggling issues and most who encounter are just paranoid. Definitely, I respect those who encounter it but lot in my places they were always been tag just as a wives tales nothing to believe until i seen it. They are basically unfounded notion that traces from superstitious beliefs, unpredictable phenomena or just from a psychotic wide imagination creating confusion and all just made up by mind. So far i had not seen any paranormal things but i have feel it. Such as when i live in an apartment then I was left alone i could just smell candles, then strong wind, light goes on and off and feel that someone is looking at me but i don;t let myself get affected as i just pray as prayer is the greatest savior against any fear once you do it it gives calmness and peace within yourself, anything which bother in the mind as the saying goes fear is only in the mind.

Maybe watching too much horror movies and reading horror tales can make the mind imagine things, I think. I see some truths in what you said, neelia. For me, I've never experienced whether in touch or sight. But hearing, yes... long time before and something which I never want to experience anymore. The smell of a faint smoke, something like a candle, I've experienced too. And I just say a prayer as well, not wanting to make myself more fearful. I think it's important to control our minds in this kind of situation. But anyway, I wouldn't want to spend even a night in a proclaimed haunted castle nor house.. I'll give it a pass..

Neelia, you know what.. I have this same idea as you as well. I've always thought that humans are more dangerous than ghosts. Because ghosts are like in another dimension for those whom believe their existence, but humans, especially those sick ones whom kill and torture (yikes!) are more dangerous than anything.

I used to do that and it really have an effect on the way i sleep and that is why i feel more fun to watch horror movies during the day no matter how gory it is so that it would not bother me to think too much about it. But their also a saying that the things which should be fear is the living because they are reality and capable of harming than the ghost or some paranormal behavior which only happen if you always seek it so it would seek and find you too..lol..
Anyway, never encounter anything like that and if ever i encounter like that I would just close my eyes and pray then hoping when I open my eyes they are already gone. I believe I have with me a guardian angel so evil get away from me..

I am a sceptic of paranormal activities. I believe that we know so little about our brain so I do not exclude such activities at all. At the same time I am very sceptical. I hear my father telling me this story when I was young. There were two sailors in Valletta who helped a young woman to open her house. She was thankful and invited them over for a drink. The next day one of the sailors realises that he has forgotten his wallet at the woman's house. They find a shabby door and the neighbours tell them that it was not opened in ages since the house was abandoned. Anyway they find the house key and when the neighbours and the sailors enter the house, they find the sailor's wallet inside the house.

Oh wow! I've heard lots of this kinds of stories before.. which like a place that never exists, a cab passenger that is not there and many more. Hard to believe too.. because like what you said, I too believe that we know so little about our brains. But this one, takes the cake. Really no explanation to it except for question mark and mystery throughout. Thanks for telling me that story. Luckily, the sailor still found his wallet inside the house.

Way back when I was still in college, during our vacation, I went to my mom's hometown province to visit a waterfall in the area. We went to my mothers ancestral home after that with a friend that I brought a friend along with me. It was a two storey house with 5 rooms on the ground and 4 rooms on the 2nd floor. Well, we stayed on one room together with two beds in the 2nd floor. Shortly after midnight, I was awakened and saw this white blanket floating on the top of us, just near the ceiling. It was moving back and forth. I shouted to my friend and he also saw what I saw... To make the long story short, both of us came running downstairs. Well, I was told by my uncle who lives in the house alone that he often observe and heard strange sounds and noises upstairs. That is why, he never sleep on the second floor.

Thanks for sharing your story there.. the white thing flying.. oh gosh.. that must have been one of those paranormal stuffs.. I'd be livid too!
The 2nd floor must have some history to it.. but I don't think the deceased can come back.. it's more towards these ghosts imitating them or so. I always hear lots of paranormal stories regarding vacation places, homes and etc.. don't know why. Whether it has got to do with the places being vacant for a long time or what. Thanks again for sharing your story.
PS: Special note to everybody else.. sorry I've not been checking my responses lately.. thought no one would come, heehee.. since I've not been making any new discussions. I'll slowly come back to them, will try my best yeah. Bear with me all, thanks so much.

I have always been interested in the paranormal although I am sceptical of most of the stories I hear. I had one experience in my lifetime which I have spoken about before so I apologise if you have already come across it. It is the only real paranormal experience I have ever had and I have not been able to repeat it since.
It happened about seventeen years ago at a time when I was alone at home feeling particularly sad and as I sat on my couch I closed my eyes only to open them again when I felt someone sit next to me, I was not afraid at all when I saw a gentleman wearing an old fashioned house coat with brown curly hair and a moustache by my side. He did not resemble anyone I had ever known but he emanated a comforting feeling and I felt safe. He stayed for about two or three minutes the most and did not speak. I swear that I was fully awake, sober and not under the influence of any chemicals. I have no explanation for it and I’ve tried really hard through meditation to bring him back to no avail.

Thanks for relating your personal encounter experience there, Paula. The apparition you saw, seems like something or someone from the olden age. Like years or centuries back. I wonder what that was too, that you saw. Luckily for you, it happened only once. But since it didn't harm or make you scared in anyway, what an experience there. I am sometimes skeptical too, but for me, I believe there is another dimension where all these ghosts or what's the word, spirits lurk..but I don't want to disturb them, just as I don't want them to disturb me.

Hi zed, How have you been? came across this discussion while browsing through mylot I have one experience to share here which happened many years ago in my ancestral village, will try to make it as short as possible...
My uncle and some other relatives had gone to watch Bayalata, a dance drama normally played out on an open field , which starts in the evening and goes on till the next morning. They felt sleepy and decided to return home at about 3 AM.As they were walking through the dark field their torch faded and they could see someone walking ahead of them with a bright light and they decided to walk faster to keep up with them and called out, but no matter how much they tried they just could not get near and finally the light completely disappeared and appeared somewhere very far....Even today my uncle is perplexed by the whole thing because the path is not a common one , and it leads just to a couple of houses and they later found out no one else had come to any of the houses at that time of the night...

Ok...my first ghost encounter..or so I believe was when I was around 12. My granparents on my dad's side raised me, and my grandmother was in the hospital recovering from a very common surgery but was having complications. I was at my cousin's house because my grandfather was with her all the time. I was reading a book on the bed and out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone at the bedroom door. I looked over and it was my grandmother. For a moment I thought she had got out of the hospital..she smiled and stepped out of my sight to the right of the door. I got up and looked out down the hall but there was nothing there but at that moment the phone started to ring. Something in my stomach just dropped and I knew..I just knew and when I saw my aunt I knew even more. My grandmother had passed. I know it sounds strange.

I have came across a building. It is a old building but in good condition. No one lives in that building because people has heard that there has been ghosts staying in there and they don't allow any one to stay in. But some say that it was not prepared according to Vastu hence it is unlucky.

Hi zed..
I do have one tale to share with you. It's based on a personal experience. When I was still in high school, I used to stay up very late at night. The house where I spent my childhood, has a very big and open window at the 2nd floor.
That very late night, as I passed the window, I saw something outside our house. Basically, what I saw was like a very large white cloth. So, I checked. As I was checking it, I kept thinking if there was a clothesline across our house. But it was impossible because it was a vacant lot, had been for a long time.
The second thought that came to me was maybe I was just having an overactive imagination. I blinked several times, walked a few steps away from the window and came back, to see if that big white cloth will still be there. It was.
Surprisingly, I never felt any fear. I was definitely curious and mystified what I was seeing. Then, I gave that cloth another long look. And I swear that what I'm going to say is true...
The cloth resembled a shape upon a much and longer look. To me, it looked like a big guy standing there, wearing a white robe or whatever white clothing that looks like a flowing robe. And I swear again that I'm telling the truth. But whatever I was looking at, seemed to be looking straight back at me!
I was alarmed then. Because I thought there was a crazy big guy, outside our house. I immediately called other members of my family for assistance. So my brother checked what I was pointing outside the house.
When he came back, he was annoyed at me. He thought I was pulling a prank.
When I checked again, there was nothing to see anymore. No white cloth! No nothing!
When I realized what was happening, that was the time I got terrified.

I believe that what you saw is true. White cloth which seemed to be like a shape of someone or an apparition, no wonder you were terrified. I read line by line which you wrote and I couldn't have imaged what I would do. This 'thing' that you saw, can be seen by you and not others in your family. Normally, from what I gather, if someone has seen something like you have..not to panic but just keep calm and say a little prayer. And normally after we call upon someone to witness, it vanishes.. thanks for sharing your story, jcj..

Hey zed. I had an experience in my early twenties. I was asleep one night and I'd been sick and didn't seem to be getting better. So I was sleeping one night and I felt someone sit down on the the side of my bed. I assumed my mother coming to check on me. I rolled over to ask her something but nobody was there. I could feel someone there. I think now maybe it was my grandfather who had passed when I was a kid.

Mine is a premonition. When I was pregnant the second time, I woke up one morning absolutely convinced I was having twins. I said to myself, "no, that's silly." And I forgot all about it. Then when I had my first ultrasound a few weeks later, big shock!

The most memorable paranormal story that I have experienced myself is when I was in elementary. It happened on a school day. I was having breakfast and my Mom was smoking (she doesnt smoke anymore btw.^_^) beside me at the table. Dad was still snoring in the next room. Then I heard the TV turning on but when I looked it wasnt. I "heard" my Dad's chair creak but I just brushed it off. My Mom started talking to seemingly someone in particular but there werent any other people in the house with us. So I asked her who she was talking to but she didnt seem to hear me. Then I felt someone pass behind me. But when I looked no one was there.
A little after that my Dad woke up and went in the room. My Mom was quite surprised to see Dad coming into the room. She was indignant that she was already talking to Dad and they were having a discussion about the topic that was on TV. I was looking at her like "Are you okay..?Do you know what you're saying?" Then I explained to her that Dad just woke up. I even asked her if she didnt hear Dad snoring the whole house away.LOL
Though Dad did say that he was dreaming that he was having a discussion with Mom about something on TV.
When he finally turned the TV on, they both confirmed that they were discussing the very topic/show that was on TV.
I guess my DAd's soul played a trick on Mom or something. I was feeling and sensing actual things in reality but Mom was experiencing the full effect of Dad's dream.

Oh whoa, what was that about.. that made me wonder too. It's like a moment in passing and perhaps your mom and dad have great sense of each other.. like they are very close and hence, such things happen. It's awesome that your mom doesn't smoke anymore.. one for healthy living, yay! And since you felt something there, it might have been so.. thanks for sharing your story bj..

I haven't experienced such paranormal activities. But in the philippines it is so rampant. Especially in the provinces where you can find faith healers, some sorts of secret caves where they believed magic happens. Dissapearing people because they've been abducted by the forest creatures and many more.

I had a few encounters my self and with my love ones. When i was just 7 years old, i was playing jackstone in my room with my dearest friend Lily May, when out of the blue the television set just suddenly turned off and an old man stood infront of us wearing an old hat, and a cane. He was floating behind the TV. Me and my friend couldn't move out of shock nor let go off any voice.
Seven years ago, i also had experienced some paranormal activities in my pad. I was leaving separately in a pad but within the vicinity of my family's estate. Everytime I took a nap or fall a sleep I always ended up seeing a lady with a strange face, strange because I can see that she's very lovely but her beauty somehow allows me to feel a deep fear / danger. She's wearing a red dress with flowing hair. I never mind my dreams even though i had 4 dreams in a row with that lady. What scared the wit out of me was when I dreamt that she was standing infront of my body, I saw my body sleeping and this strange lady was looking at it. I heard voices and I saw my deceased relatives looking like young ladies wearing beautiful dresses telling me to NEVER GO.In just a split second I dreamt I was inside my body now, opening my eyes and saw the lady facing my face to face. I tried hard to wake up until I was able to wake up when i prayed the OUR Father. Until now I can recall my dreams and I can't forget every detail of that dream. The face of the lady is carved in my mind but what amazes me is that i cant get her face to be sketch. Believe it or not, the best thing to do is always to pray even when your dreaming or having a night mare.

Those stories are really nerve-wrecking. I can imagine your wondrous mind at that time. You are right, it's always good to say a little prayer before sleep and everywhere and anywhere we go. In my opinion, bad spirits/ghosts are everywhere and we need to stay away from places where there are.. but then again, we won't know, so prayers are our best safeguard. Thanks for sharing your stories.
