My *get up and go* has got up and gone. Where do you find yours?

February 23, 2010 8:28am CST
This morning was supposed to be a productive morning but it didn't happen. I wanted to clear out part of the back bedroom to make space for my partner's childhood toys, but I couldn't find the energy to actually start on it. I decided to do a load of washing and although it's been done, I feel tired and lethargic now. I tried to make another start on the back bedroom but only succeeded in moving boxes from one side of the room to the other side, not actually productive. Now it's snowing here, again, and the living room is full of drying racks covered with wet washing, and it's depressing me that despite all the plans for the day, I feel that I have achieved nothing. Now I am sitting at my desk wondering where all my *Get up and Go* has got up and gone. Where should I start looking? Is it under the sofa? Has it gone on holiday? It is outside in the snow? Where do you find the energy and drive to get things done when you wake up feeling so lethargic?

I know that if we have a lot of cloudy days, I feel grumpy and unproductive. Takes a whip to get my butt up, and even then it's not in gear! Could be you just need some sunshine to bring back that old energy (Good luck finding any)

Hello Recycledgoth! I feel for you and I also sympathize. For me its a come and go thing. I have good weeks, even months and then BOOM, it hits me like a ton of brick and Im down for a few days. Its hormones. Cant think of anything else unless the boogie man comes over at night and sucks it all away. So dont despair, you'll have the humph to go at it soon.

Maybe you need some 'quality' time to yourself to relax and do things that YOU want to do that you find pleasure in doing, instead of the chores that are duly expected of you! You sound as though you are rushed off your feet, with all the organizing you've been doing of late, why not do something special for example have a nice long relaxing bath, soft music, or go out shopping, something you love doing, treat yourself and recharge your batteries. My get up and go I find at the gym ironically. Sunday I was feeling really depressed, I suffer terribly with depression and I was on a right 'downer' I don't sleep too good either, it was a wet and miserable day, so I thought I wasn't gaining anything by sitting around feeling sorry for myself, so I walked to the gym, in the rain LOL! and I hill jogged on the treadmill for 40 minutes, I did some weights afterwards and I felt soooooooo much better, for me the gym is my sanity and banishes lethargy, apathy as well as anger and frustration. I hope you find your get up and go soon my friend.

That's an interesting idea, perhaps I should rig up a punchbag or something, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

sounds like you are haviung an off day. I get them every now and again and the only solution is to have a day off. I think of something easy to make for dinner and then sit with a warm drink and something that I like to do. If you are a stay at home wife or mum I think it is expected that you will never actually want a day off because every day is one but that just isnt true .Everyone needs to change their routine sometimes.

I don’t find my ‘get up and go’ anywhere around when I am particularly looking for it, so I just stop looking altogether and lazy around LOL…isn’t is so true that they very days when you think you have some free time to do that pending housework, you feel Oh so tired and then that small voice says ‘maybe some other day’…it happens to me so often that nowadays I’ve just given up fighting that voice. Whatever pending work I get done, its always a momentary decision….have about an hour OK clean up that book-case (just did so this morning)…planning and thinking really tires me out so much LOL
