What is the strangest object you have seen lying by the side of the road?

For me it has to be a duvet, it was just sitting there on the grass verge
The thing I found strange about it was that it had been placed there very neatly all folded up.
You would think that if someone had thrown it from a car it would be all wrinkled up.
It got me wondering why on earth would you dump a duvet then go to all the bother of folding it up all neatly?
What strange things have you seen by the roadside?

I once saw a pair of clean-looking pajamas by the side of the road. It must have been folded, but the wind had spread it out. It made me think, someone was wise enough to wear PJ's if they knew they were sleeping by the side of the road. Then it made me wonder, where could the owner be? Maybe he or she was afraid to approach the PJ's by the road because it was a bright day, and people and cars might see him or her without any bottoms.

Thanks for the laugh I have now got a picture in my mind of someone running around half dressed looking for their pyjamas by the roadside now that would be a strange sight.

That is bizarre, a neatly folded duvet is quite an odd thing to find by the side of the road. Me? well I seem to see a lot of shoes and trainers by the roadside. Never a pair either, always just one lonely stray piece of footwear. How they end up there I have no idea.

Beautyfactor,
You reminded me of a pair of shoes I've seen hanging from a telephone wire, back when I was still in school... I haven't seen any since I've moved county. It was rumored that someone who went to school with us put them there, but who knows?

That is quite odd. Maybe the person who owned the duvet, broke down and placed it on the ground looking for something in their trunk, and forgot to put the duvet back? Perhaps it was dark, what color was the duvet? Or then again someone else could have folded it. I can't think of anything that's odd I've seen on the side of the road here!

It was a white one. I never thought of that maybe it could have been the case.

Maybe. It will be interesting to see what else has been spotted by the roadside I don't think you could get much stranger than cows eyes.

I've never found anything really strange by the side of the road, but I have found clothes. Pair of pants, bra and panties, spread out. Like someone was stripping off their clothes while walking down the road.

Clothes seem to be quite a common thing to be left at the side of the road especially underwear it really does make you wonder how it gets there.

Which is weird because me on the other hand found some "rubber gloves"... if you know what i mean..

I've seen lost gloves mainly, really many of them seem to get lost by roads. But the funniest thing I saw was a bicycle with both tyres popped and the frame "folded" in half.

That is true my son is always losing his gloves.
Maybe the bike was in that way due to an accident.

i dont remember quite clearly of any strange thing lying out in the road..
but when i wasa kid and used to dig around my house i found an ancient coin.
i sved it for a long time..
but never found out where it belonged to ...
otherwise strangely cut rocks were quite common in those time or maybe it was just my imaginations durin my childhood

Don't you just love children's imagination.
That reminds me of the time I found a old coin out in my back garden as a child. I had it for some years but then lost it.
Do you still have the coin?
Do you think you will ever find out?

We've got strange stuff lying on the road where I live. Once I was out walking with my dad when I kicked at something and was horrified when I realized it was an animal's jawbone. Another time, I saw a plastic bag with eggs inside hanging on the electric/telephone wires by the street.

Electric/telephones wire seem to attract stuff like that there was another responder who saw a pair of shoes hanging over some wires.
I would have been horrified as well.

Here in my place the big snake was hit by a car .
It is strange for me, why it was happened that
there is no forest beside the road.
How come it is rotten much by the car. Ouch so impossible!
I can saw this when we rode in a motorcycle going to
work. So does it mean the snake crawl as it does not
know that it is risky for it? Wondering, in my thinking does
the driver knew that he bumped the big snake in the way?
Many ideas that come up in my mind that no exact answer.

Could it have been possible that it was someone's pet that they had abandoned.
Surely the car would have noticed if they run over it I suppose we will never know the answer to that.

Hello Littleone! Hope there was nothing hiding in the duvet!!!
As for me, the strangest thing I found was a fake leg. So someone is hopping all over the place missing a leg. Its been a while ago and at the time I just laughed as I could see a person hopping on one leg but now Im thinking that maybe there was the rest of the body lying in the forest somewhere. So thinking back, I should have called the cops to report it.

Hi Magicalbubbles.
As far as I know there was nothing hiding in there.
I am bet you are glad it was only a false leg and not a real one.

Only the other day I was out for a walk and spotted a whole leg of cooked ham in the hedge. I was absolutely astonished. I was tempted to pick it up and take it home but thought I'd better not risk poisoning my family! I looked around in vain for a fried egg or a pineapple ring to go with it! I can't believe some of the strange things people dump in public places. It's not as if we don't all have a perfectly adequate rubbish collection system so why they feel the need to abandon clothing (shoes seem to be favourite!), items of furniture, books, food etc, I have no idea.
@littleone3 (2063)

I would not have taken the risk either.
It amazes me as well the things that are dumped in public places.
These days you can recycle most things so no need for fly-tipping.

Well she wasn't exactly lying...she was really standing next to the road with her hands on her waist and she was quite "unhappy". It was my aunt. It appears my two uncles and my other aunt took off from our house in Las Cruces, NM, without her on their way to Phoenix. It took them about an hour to realize she wasn't in the car with them, and to turn around, and come back and get her. We didn't make her stay on the side of the road...we invited her back in to the house until they arrived. When they did arrive, all H*** broke loose. But my Mom, Dad and I had one great laugh...

You just can't help but to laugh at it. How on earth did they not notice that she wasn't with them for that length of time.
Hopefully your aunt will be able to look back on it and be able to laugh about it herself one day.
Mind you I would have been mad at first as well.

I saw a couch on the entrance to the expressway. It looked like a brand new couch. I was wondering how could someone not notice that the couch had fallen off the back of the trailer or truck. They probably missed it when they got to their final location! :)

I bet they did and was probably very annoyed when they found it missing I know I
would have been especially if it was brand new.

Well, it's not actually a THING that I saw on the side of the road one day. I was on a class trip in Russia and when we were approaching a city called St.Petersburg, I saw a man in a pink costume pooping on the side of the road. Our bus passed by really quickly, but I managed to notice that man. It was a very strange and at the same time funny view.

I would have found it amusing as well as it is not something you expect to see.
