At home and sweet tooth, no weight loss here

So I decided to see what I do at home that is causing me not to lose weight. I realized that I pop something sweet in my mouth every hour. That's some serious munching. I haven't gained weight yet haven't lost any either and that's the culprit. Anyone else figure out what they do that's causing them not to lose weight? How do I kick this habit. I feel I have to eat something sweet or I don't feel fulfilled.

All you have to do is change the sweet stuff for something more nutritional such as fruits and raw vegetables. Have a chopped up apple beside you or some carrot sticks, rather than the sweet treats you currently have. Have some water with you too and keep taking sips to help beat the cravings.
The one thing I do that prevents me from losing weight is eating late at night, I am stopping that by keeping myself bust being a myLotter!

I agree, this should work for you. Try having some nuts around on some days instead of fruit, just to have variety. Of course too much nuts won't be good either. Rid your home with any of them sweet stuff so you don't feel tempted to grab one. Good luck!

I think I'm addicted to sweet stuff. I think about an M&M cookie and I want it. I think of chocolate and I want it. No fruit or vegetable seems to bring on that desire. But if I want to seriously lose weight I gotta do something about this.

I constantly eat sweet stuff, I got piles of candy all around me and in the fridge, but the funny thing is: I'm not gaining any weight, I rather lose some. I'm 68kg and it keeps hovering between 69 and 67. I don't do any exercise apart from a little bicycling in summer, but it doesn't change a thing. I think it must be fast metabolism.
But I suggest you buy sweets with no sugar in them or switch to oranges, peaches and sweet things like that. They fill you up but they taste good at the same time. Perfect choice! Also don't forget to drink a lot of water, it helps a bit.

The consensus seems to be eating fruits and vegies and drinking lots of water. But that desire for sugar is what doesn't go away. I can have a filling breakfast and a few minutes later I'm trotting to the pantry to see what kinds of chocolates I have in store.

What about chewing gum? It's generally only five calories and it's sweet. You could pop a piece of gum in every hour, and then you'd be set. Hmm, I'm pretty sure it's all I eat, though I haven't been eating that much. Yesterday I had one meal, and thus far today I've had one meal... That's probably not good either.
But by what I mean when I Say "all I eat" it's not so much what I eat as how much of it I do eat... though what I eat is a factor as well.

To tell you the truth I don't like gum. It seems to make me more hungry for some odd reason. But you know I heard that if you only eat one meal a day you are doing your body more harm. It's good to eat small meals at regular intervals. It's all easier said than done though.

I have this problem too, when I am stuck at home, I begin to look for things to eat. The only thing that stops me is that we don't have any. My dad is under a very strict diet, so we don't keep a lot of snacks at home to munch on so as not to tempt him. We only have those if somebody gives it to us, like my aunt who sent us so much goodies from my cousin's engagement party. When this happens, we give the goodies away. As for me, to kick this habit, I resort to drinking water instead of eating the sweets. Better yet, I go out, so I don't get bored and start hunting for snacks.

Hi ElsaElsa,
I've just finished responding to a discussion where I emphasized the importance of self-discipline and knowledge. Once again, I'm going to do the same.
Being a sweet tooth like you, I know how you feel. But, one day, I decided to make changes in my way of thinking and my way of doing things.
Instead of chocolate or ice cream or pecan pie, I opted for pineapple, banana or any kind of fruit. Pineapple is sweet and it contains the enzyme bromelain, which among other things, breaks up the fats in the body, thereby getting rid of excess weight.
Banana is also sweet, with an added bonus of having many health benefits. It is high in fiber and helps clean the colon. It has potassium which is good for the heart, the muscles and for the maintenance of normal blood pressure. It has zero sodium, zero fats, zero cholesterol. I can mention more health benefits, but it would be beyond the scope or our discussion here.
Drinking more water fills up the stomach and makes one eat less. Water with lemon is great. Water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and honey is good for weight loss. Fresh ginger ale would be a good variation because of its unbelievably many health benefits, one of which is promoting weight loss.
Occasionally, we can have a piece of chocolate, a little ice cream or any sweet stuff. We're not going to completely deprive ourselves, either, because when we have a really strong craving for these things, chances are, we are going to splurge.
Have a lovely day, Elsa.

Wow you have a lot of knowledge on the natural foods and goodness from them. I don't think I'm hungry when I eat sugary foods. It's more like I feel like eating it and then I do. My stomach isn't asking for it, my mouth is. And I can't seem to rid myself of wanting the chocolates, and cookies, i'm glad I don't crave ice cream. But chocolates and cookies are just as bad.

I'm right there with you, only I don't do it every hour...I will get a nasty craving, try to resist, but I'm at home-I know it's there..then I'll break down and eat half a box of Girl scout thin mints...and later hate myself for it. I've tried keeping it out of the house..but it's been harder than I thought! They say it takes 2-3 weeks to reset that eating habit/craving...I'm thinking what I'm going to do is stock up on fruits, smoothies-you know "natural healthy sweets" to reset that craving. If you know something I don't-do tell! :)

Well they say that dried fruit is healthier don't they or is that flash frozen? I'm so confused by all the terms they use! I think it's better than eating that M&M cookie though :)

I do that too! After I eat something I have to have something sweet. And I always want more. I'm not sure how to stop. Maybe just set goals to slowly quit or have someone restrict what you eat. Maybe just get rid of all the sweets completely? Good Luck! Losing weight is hard!
