Headaches that just won't quit!

Headaches... I'm not sure if this kind of pain tops the list for some people. But in my case, headaches are on my number two spot followed by toothache.
Since giving birth to my second child last year, I've started to get these headaches for days. Before, I only suffered from a minor headache for a day. Then, several weeks will pass before I get to have another one.
But last year, I've started to get these headaches for 3 to 5 consecutive days. The pain will just transfer from one spot to another but the pain is always there. I've tried to sleep it off. Took some pain relievers but nothing. All I can do is to wait and hope that my headache will cease to quit!
I'm thinking the reason I'm getting these non-stop headaches, is that my hormones have gone crazy when I got pregnant and gone crazy again when I gave birth. Some sort of re-adjusting themselves.
Another reason that I can think of, is that I need to have my eyes checked.
My sister, for one, suffered from really bad migraines before she got pregnant. And when she gave birth, her migraines just seemed to vanish. But after more than a year of breastfeeding her son, those migraines came back with a vengeance.
There was one time, when she had to ask for our help to look after her son for awhile because she really needed some quiet and no-lights place in the house to rest. I could see that her migraine was really giving her a difficult time.
Sometimes my headaches really makes me nauseated...
And you?

I am a lucky one I dont get head ackes.
But my daughter does once had one for 5 weeks straight then we moved from where we were and they stopped for awhile but she is always taking IB.
I think her hair is to long and pulling on her head now she wont cut took to long to get where it is.
My sister inlaw would get them and bang her head on the dashboard till I got her to a docotr to get her a shot then she would be out for hours! And I would get eyes check to see if this is what happeing If my glasses dont come back right I get sick to my tummy then they have to redo them one time they had the wrong lences in the wrong side! took 3 times for them to get them right

I hope your daughter doesn't get that kind of headache regularly. One to a couple days of headache or migraine is truly terrible. But to have them for weeks!I'm not sure if I'll be able to do my daily tasks properly if I have them for weeks.
It's also terrible to have the kind of pain your sister-in-law had. To bang her head... the pain must be too great for her.
My mother had her migraine for almost a week and she suspects that it has something to do with her eyes. So, she had them checked and her guess was right. Just like you, she also needs the right glasses.

May I ask what "ib" means? I used to wear glasses but they felt very uncomfortable. I felt as if I was going to have sneezing fits all the time.

you're not getting headaches. you're describing a migraine. Normal painkillers don't work for them. get hold of something specifically for migraine and see if that helps any. migraines do often have a hormonal cause. they can be dietary as well. try laying off chocolate, sorry!, a common trigger food.

Hi! My sister told me the same thing. She suspects that I've joined her in her migraines. Thanks for the advice. Now that you've mentioned the chocolate, I think you may be right. I'm trying to recall what I've eaten before I had it. And if I'm not mistaken, I had two chocolate donuts that night.
The reason for my migraine may be more on dietary. My daughter is now almost a year old and I think my hormones should have re-adjusted themselves by now.
Back in college, I have this friend who suffered from migraines, too. And I remember now that chocolates were a big no-no for her.

So far, I haven't eaten any chocolates this week. And still no migraine attack. But I'm planning a little experiment next week. I'm going to have some of my favorite brand of chocolate... and wish for the best!

I have had headaches before that have made me sick but thank goodness..I don't get them often. It could be your hormones or your eyes. If your sister suffers from migraines..it might be a hereditary thing too. I have often known of families that suffer from them. There is a lot of good medication now for migraines but I would check into my other options first. Take care.

Hi Jen... I'm starting to have another headache tonight and I haven't eaten any chocolates. So, I'm off to another theory. I'm going to have my eyes checked as soon as possible.

Hi Jcj! my SIL gets awful migraines and sounds to me like thats what you 're suffering from. Her doctor told her that it was usually triggered by stress or food. Id keep a food journal. Chocolate, spices, even some veggies can trigger it.
But first, Id go see my doctor and Id tell him. It might also be high blood pressure and you need to make sure its nothing medical first, then you can have a look at what you're eating.

Hello Magical
The first respondent have also suggested that I may now be suffering from migraines. And chocolates may trigger them. But it's interesting to know that there are some vegetables that can also be a trigger factor.
You're absolutely right about the food journal. And thank for suggesting it.I had my blood pressure checked last Sunday and it was fine.
