The more you tune your guitar by ear , the better you will get as time goes on !
I myself wasn't born with perfect pitch nor tuning with my ears, so I start out with a tuner, but then I have to finish tuning by ear, because I want to be in perfect tune with what I want to hear, as I am playing !

I usually tune my guitar once a day before practicing. I use an electronic tuner for accuracy as i am still not that good of a musician to be able to tune by ear. But i guess tuning with ear makes you a better musician as you rely on the sounds in your mind only.

tuning by ear is usually faulty...
but it does make you a better musician if you know what it should sound like in your head.
Perfect Pitch... something that can be developed the more you expose yourself to music

My partner always uses a tuner rather than tune by ear. It's quicker and easier for him, especially if he is about to go on stage. Most of the guitarists we know all use tuners, for speed and accuracy

When you've been playing long enough, you can strike nearly any full chord, and immediately know if you're out of tune, and which strings need tuning.
If you have the time, an electric tuner is always nice, because you almost always get a more accurate tuning than by ear.
I mean, perfection (or close to it) can't hurt, right?

I tune with a guitar tuner. If one isn't available, then i try to tune it by sound. That is, comparing the pitch with something in tune. I wish I had perfect pitch, then I could just tune my guitar intuitively. Unfortunately I wasn't born with that talent. :(

I don't have to tune my guitar that often, it usually stays pretty close to tune all the time! Most of the time I check the tuning before I start with a tuner, then I fine tune it with my ear, while I am playing! Once I get it set, it stays in tune for a long time!
When I have trouble tuning, I know I must have gone too long without changing strings, because usually I change them pretty often so they will stay fresh!
When I have a guitar that I have to tune all the time , I trade it off until I get one that stays in tune better!

I tune my guitar pretty much every time I play, unless I forget until it starts to sound off. I usually use a tuner but I have tuned it by ear before.

Hi cute_poporing! I tune my guitar by ear because I want it to sound good when I play the guitar and sing. I tune it with the key of my voice. I'm not a good singer so I don't to sound a bit out of tune. Happy mylotting!

I always tune my guitar every time I play.I was tuning guitar if I do not think the guitar sounds not good.I tune my guitar just by ear because I do not have the tools to tune the guitar. I think if you use a guitar tune would be more accurate and more audible sounds good.

Tune your guitar at least an hour or 2 before hitting the stage and then when you get onstage do a final check. (This is for not so new strings)
Tune your guitar with a tuner on stage. Tuning it by ear onstage requires you to tune in a loud volume which is annoying, but if you use a tuner with true bypass all you have to do is check the LED display to make sure you're in tune.
Offstage, tune however you want to.
New strings:
Tune your guitar a halfstep or whole step from your normal tuning or let's say you tune in E, Turn it up to F or F# and then leave it for a couple of hours.
This is so that the string can adjust to the length of the neck.
When you come back tune it again.
This is a longer process and it usually takes 6 to 8 hours to ge the desired outcome.
that's why, never change strings right before a gig... a lesson i learned the hard way.
