Compulsive overeating has been my nemesis for over 20 years and it's only recently that I've learned to curb it - but I'm still struggling it. I was boarderline obese a few years ago and am now in the higher range of the healthy weight range. For a while I went to the other extreme - almost anorexic, but it's like I'm trying to find a balance in all this. I keep veggies in the fridge all the time and am trying to wean all my family off the junk food, but it's hard. I'm definitely a lot better than I used to be, and I hope one day I'll be completely free of eating disorders.

I tend to want to over eat also Elizabeth, especially when I am sad or worried or lonely. Do you overeat at times like that also? I guess that I overeat to compensate for my problems. I have lost a lot of weight and do not want to regain it back.

Yes, "comfort eating" I'm down to a healthy weight range and was doing so well but I'm starting to gain a bit. I'm definitely not into eating 10 bars of chocolate or eating big portions of food, but it's the snacking that gets me in the waistline. I'll add you to my friends, cuz I can relate big time.

I totally understand where you are coming from. There is nothing like satisfying your hunger when you feel down, irritated or depressed. I have also used food as a comfort and have found it really difficult to weave portion control into the equation. Like you, it has been a struggle, but yesterday I didn't over eat. I didn't eat anything sugary. I stuck to three good meals and lots of water. Just stick with it Masihi and I am sure you will be just fine.

It's definitely a hard habit to break out of, for sure, I also believe in changing your way of thinking/attitude towards food/eating/dietiing - I myself have been working on my thinking process in that regards, and although I ain't near where I should emotionally, I do think I'm in a lot better frame of mind than I was 4 years ago. :-)

First of all, well done for trying to maintain your balance. It is a very hard thing to do, especially in the face of all the temptations these days. I have also struggled for many years and realise that I may never be a skinny minny but I do try to retain a balance between overeating and healty foods.
