Pets- Barking in the car

My two girls seem to think that every dog outside their car is a threat or just plain should not be there.. Bark Bark Bark ..How do I let them know its ok ( saveing our ear drums ) and making our rides with them more fun and enjoyable ..
They were not like this before we moved to Australia...
