Who is the boss ? You or your computer ?

I am using 3 OSs, and my major problem is to give a common behavior to all of them : similar 2 panes file managers, same Gecko family of browsers (Firefox and SeaMonkey) with same add-ons, macros in text editors and word processors, etc. I try to tame each OS, but I have often to submit to it and do the things like it wants them to be done. And you ? Do you believe that you are the boss ?

I am amazed on your descriptions, because, I admit I have never tried doing what you are doing... and I have never tried installing what you have installed... I feel behind with your technology.. But the way, with regard to who is the boss, you are always the boss, not your computer, because the life of the computer depends on you.. You can always pull off the power supply if you want to :)

Hi magtibaygom ! don't feel behind : I'm an old man now, and I have my little ways, that's all. I was sure that somebody would say something like that : it's a too simple way to move the problem away, even if humor can be a good way to deal with a problem ;)

Ha ha ha your discussion has caught my eye with amusement. That's a very nice question really and very hard to answer with all honesty. (^_^) Ok let me put it this way, as far as i'm concerned, i can't survive a day without a computer, but i like to think that i have full control of this byte thing. Me and my computer are inseparable and i can say i'm married to my computer. He is the king, and but im the ace . (^_^)

Thank you for choosing my post as the best response you got from your discussion. I really appreciate it, although I really don't expect anything grand when i am reacting to your discussion, but nevertheless, I really thank you for best liking it and it really makes me somehow proud of myself. See you around...(^_^)

Like you, I like to think that I have the control. You are tackling what should be another good discussion at myLot : can a human being have strong feelings for a computer ? As you are married with your computer, you gave your answer :) When I opened this discussion, I was thinking about a boss/employee relationship : it's also a couple relationship. I'm not sharing your feelings for computers, but as you opened up new horizons in this debate, I give a best response to your happy couple :)

My God, my computer is always the boss, it drives me crazy sometimes. I only have one Operating system and use only firefox, and I have enough problems with that. If I add another OS, I think I would definitely lose my mind. I guess you are a computer person to deal with 3 OSs. Take care.

I am the boss of my computer. I don't work for the computer, the computer works for me. If it choses to not like what I do with it, then tough luck. It doesn't get done until the computer decides to behave. Because what I say goes and my computer knows it.

You have a well trained trained dog-computer. Mines are more like my cat : they don't always obey me and toe the line.

Welllll....yes and no haha!! Computers are machines and they do things a certain way. Think of it as a trained animal. It'll do the tricks only if you give them a treat. Same for our computers, if you do everything the way it was "trained" to do, then you wont have problems, but if you try to be creative.....SLAP, you get your hand slapped!! Hope you make peace with your machine !!

I'm in peace with my machines when they act like I want. Happily, I'm not slapped every time. LOL.

Human is the boss, and not a computer. Computer is a slave which is used by human to finish his almost work. In this case yes, computer is a slave to humans. It does exactly what a human says or commands. But nowadays humans are so addictive to the computer world that he can not do anything without computer. but anyway I conclude saying humans are the Boss and computers are the slaves.

When I am slaving over a computer to end a task, I prefer also to believe that I am the boss :)
