One of the ways jobs are being lost is through outsourcing which sends the jobs to other countries. One of the major reasons employers move jobs to other countries is that those countries have national healthcare while all employers get here is excalating premiums.
In amny parts of this country, the healthcare issue has changed the political demographic. I don't know where you live but were you to visit the Philadelphia Main Line, you would see signs on the lawns of some mighty impressive properties that say "Healthcare Reform Now". The entire area has gone from solid Republican to solid Democrat in 20 years based on one issue - Healthcare. When self employed people (even wealthy ones) suddenly see their monthlty healthcare premiums approaching the mortgages on their pricey homes, they know it's time to do something.
It's not mentioned much but the only time in the history of this country that big business and labor united under a labor leader to affect change was recently when Walmart and several other large businesses sat down with labor unions under the leadership of Andy Stern to work on the healthcare issue. They concluded that the US healthcare system was broken beyond repair. People say we have the finest healthcare in the world. We do not. We have the finest medicine in the world. There is a big difference.

I personally think the lack of people with insurance in America is a crisis and is very near the top of the 'to do' list. However, I think the liberals have figured out that "healthcare" is the true victim cause here, and it's now their hot-button issue to press forward.
As far as the government wanting to take over -- of course they do! By nature, that's what politicians want: control. They're always seizing more and more of it. They can hide behind any feel-good BS they want, but no matter who they are, Republicans or Democrats or even independents, we see infinitely more power grabs than we do politicians willing to put power back in the hands of the people.
The biggest difference is in the culture. Much of the left seems actually eager to give government control while they throw their hands up and let someone else handle it, sure as the rain that this government (extremely laughable moment here!!) can get the job done. The center and right of the country has a simple message: Get your friggin' inept and greedy little paws off of everything! We want solutions, just not these.
Healthcare is the priority because, in liberal land, a victory keeps them in power forever.

So true, so true. The best thing that could happen to the price of health insurance would be to allow companies to complete across statelines. The Democrats think that the healthcare problem will go away by forcing everyone to buy insurance, but those with out insurance don't buy it because they can't afford it. Forcing everyone to buy insurance will just drive prices up and give insurance companies more power over us. We also need more primary care Doctors, the majority of Medical students go into a specialty leaving us with very few primary care doctors, supply and demand, remember. The greater the supply, the lower the price, the lower the supply and you have a system just like the one we have now.

I agree. Jobs should be at the top of this list right now....but Democrats are more worried about their agenda. They have been trying to do this for 30 years. This is the biggest majority they have had...so this is their biggest chance of getting it done.
I agree Healthcare needs some reform....but right now we have bigger issues and bigger fish to fry.
It is great to make healthcare more affordable...but if you don't have a job it does not matter how cheap it is...you still won't be able to afford it.

The big reason healthcare is such a big prioity os because the Democrats want very badly to take total control of our lives, and they know that they will lose control of at least the Senate and at least the large majority they have in the House. While they tell us they don't want socialism their actions say they do. The first step to socialism is to de-value your coutries money, the 787 billion dollar stimulus was a great first step. Next you start to take over industry, the bailout of two of the three US auto makers was a good start there, thank God that Ford was smart enough to handle their own problems. Third, what better way to move into Socialism than to have high uneployement? It could be thatObama, Reid, and Pelosi believe that if enough people are out of work that we will allow them to do anything to save us. And last but not least they know that the economy will rebound by its self, the stimulus plan was nothing more than a huge spending bill with money in it for such great thing like a tunnel for turtles in Florida, the study of how alchol effects mice and many other great studies. The Democrats promised healthcare reform and they think that when they deliver it we will all think they are the best thing that ever happened to our country. They don't see and will not listen to what we say, so join my revolution and vote out all of your incumbents. It does not matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican, vote for which ever party you chose, just vote for the member of your party that is running against them in the primaries, don't even let them make it to the Nov. election. Pass this idea on to ever one that you know that is sick and tired of the way our members of congress do business. We need to let everyone that wants to represent us in Washington that it is our Congress, and Our Government. We the People don't elect leaders, We the People Elect people to be our voice, in our government.
