What is more important to you to be successful, hard work or gut? Why?

We had this debate in high school and the ones in the side of gut won. Though these two traits are both important for anyone to be successful, what if you are to choose only one? Why will you select hard work over gut or gut over hard work?

Well rather smart work with full guts to go in direction of the dream.
