I do have the fear of dark even now. I still awaken my hubby if I get fearful. When my hubby is away on trips I do not sleep at all. I sleep during the day for around 4 to 5 hours. Usually I do not get scared as my hubby is at home but if he is away I switch on all the lights in the room and also switch on the TV so that I do not feel I am alone.

We are like the same. When I was a kid, I am really afraid of the dark and I would wake up my brother or my mom to just accompany me to the comfort room. And now, I still have a slight fear of the dark, just like you but yeah, no more waking up of other people. I can manage walking in the dark alone in the house now, but it's still scary for me. Singing songs loudly in the dark just makes me scared more. You may never know, someone might sing along with you!

When I was a little I use to be afraid of the dark. I even had night lights on that my mom put in my room. I use to sneak in my sisters bedroom to sleep in her bed so I wouldn't be so afraid. But as I got older I grew out of it. Now my daughter goes through the same thing and she will keep lights on where she sleeps at.

The fear of the dark is normal for kids, but not normal with adults. Next time you find yourself caught again in the fear of the dark, just think there's a guardian angel sent by God to guard and protect you from any harms and danger.. :)

I was never affraid of the dark as a child, but something happend to me a few months ago that has left me very fearful of it. I was asleep in my bed, it was the middle of the night and I woke up in a terrible panic. I felt hot, sweaty and I couldn't breath. I was really frightened and disorientated because it was so dark in the room I couldn't see anything. It was that bad that I had to wake my husband up to turn on the light so I could catch my breath and calm down. Since then I refuse to sleep with the window blind fully closed and I don't go to sleep unless I am satisfied that the room is just right should I wake up in a panic again.
